Ashley Greene arrives at the premiere of "Julie and Julia" in Los Angeles on July 27, 2009.

NEW YORK (CBS) An attorney for Ashley Greene says nude photos of the "Twilight" star released on the Internet are illegal and posting them is unlawful.

Frankly, we don't know if the shots were legally photographed or not, but we do know that Greene is the latest in a growing line of attractive celebrities to be hit with a Google storm once their private moments go public.

That list now includes ESPN sportscaster Erin Andrews, who was secretly filmed naked in her hotel room with a peephole camera, and "High School Musical" star Vanessa Hudgens, who was embarrassed when naked and semi-naked photos were leaked to the web in 2007 and again in 2009.

"I am embarrassed over this situation and regret having ever taken these photos," the Disney star said at the time. The photos have not seemingly hurt her career.

Greene's photos surfaced on the Internet more recently, which, according to the New York Daily News, shows the 22-year-old actress "baring it all for the camera."

It's believed the nude pictures of Greene were taken when she was 19-years-old, according to celebrity gossip Web site celebrifi.com.

Greene's attorney confirmed the authenticity of the nude photos and is threatening to sue anyone who publishes them, claiming that the photos are illegal and displaying them is unlawful.

Famed celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton was one of the first to break the story, reportedly posting Ashley Greene's nude photos on his blog. Hilton later removed them and posted a statement from Greene's attorney claiming the actress "owns the exclusive rights, among others, to reproduce, distribute, and to display the photos."

Despite the naked photo scandal, Greene was recently honored as a "fresh face" at the Teen Choice Awards.

Who cares? I guess if she was getting paid for the "exposure" she would keep her pie hole shut. If she let someone take pictures of her they would be the property of the picture holder & if they wanted to "post them" i guess that is none of her business. Does she have copywrites on them? This is probably a publicity stunt. I've never even heard of her. Her looks & face are just average nothing memorable.

Don't pose nude if you are so concerned about the publicity. Secondly, Paris is a scum and so is anyone else posting these pics. We don't need to see them all over the internet. Who cares to begin with and then do you really have the right to publically post pics you do not own. They are not public property are they?
