Smokey the Bear may soon be living up to his namesake.

CNN is reporting that drug cartels are getting around tougher border controls by mass-producing marijuana right here at home. They hide their sophisticated farms, complete with irrigation systems, under the green canopy of California's national forests.

According to CNN, 5.2 million plants worth a total of about $15.6 billion were seized last year, 70 percent of them from public lands

Guards armed with assault rifles have previously engaged in shootouts with law enforcement officers, the network says. So far, no civilians have been hurt.

If they legalize it the US Gov't could easily bring us out of this economic slump with the massive amount of tax dollars that will come from this.

I agree. Right now our country is getting deeper and deeper in debt. Congress is suppose to be looking for new ways to help out our economy. They should legalize this and tax it do restock the coffers of America. Its a win-win deal for everybody. It is beyond me why they don't.

If you want to stop it, legalize it, it will bring in tax dollars and stop all the crime. It's so simple, why didn't they learn from alcohol and Prohibition, it just doesn't work. The big difference is that Marijuana has a medicinal purpose, whereas alcohol kills!
Sincerely,
