Paris Murder: "Playboy" Mogul Arrested In Woods
Sky News reports on the capture and interrogation of British "playboy" Ian Griffin.
(CBS/AP) After an extensive international police hunt, British detectives believe they have found the businessman suspected of beating his girlfriend to death at a luxury hotel in Paris, according to the Telegraph.
Officials from Cheshire, a rural county 180 miles north of London, reported that Ian Griffin was arrested yesterday in a wooded-area living in what would appear to be a tent.
Hotel Bristol
The 39-year-old businessman allegedly fled the Hotel Bristol in his Porsche last Tuesday after the body of wealthy businesswoman Kinga Legg was reportedly found by a maid in the bathroom of the couple's suite. According to French police, Legg, 36, died from internal bleeding caused by her injuries.
Sky News reported on Sunday that the sports car was later recovered in Warrington.
According to the Telegraph, Tracy Baker, a former girlfriend of Griffin, claimed that he had phoned her after being attacked by Legg in the hotel room with a "stun gun disguised as a lipstick." Legg was said to have snapped after discovering Griffin had been cheating on her with Baker.
Griffin, who built a string of businesses including gadget shops and tanning salons in northwestern England, was declared bankrupt in 2006. Legg ran her family company, Vegex, based in Poland that supplies tomatoes to British supermarkets.
