Fla. boy, 17, arrested for sex with 11-year-old in Port Charlotte church

(CBS/WINK) PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - A 17-year-old Florida boy has been arrested for having sex Sunday evening in a Port Charlotte church with an 11-year-old girl.

The boy has been charged with sexual battery, reports CBS affiliate WINK.

Charlotte County police were notified after the girl's mother brought her daughter to a Port Charlotte hospital for an evaluation, WINK reports. The mother reportedly said she was leaving church around 9 p.m. and couldn't find her daughter. She located her about 10 minutes later and said her daughter told her she had consensual sexual intercourse in a church bathroom, according to WINK.

Detectives interviewed the girl who reportedly confirmed that she and the boy had consensual sex in the 7th Day Adventist Church, also known as Bethanie French Sda Church. The boy and his father voluntarily came to the sheriff's office for an interview which resulted in the boy's arrest. He was transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Ft. Myers.

Consent seems to be between TWO persons, regardless of the opinions of officials, parents, and other adults and minors.

Get a grip, everyone has a set of organs and when there is a willing partner, intimacy is the goal and no amount of legal wrangling can side step a basic human need or right. Even the US Constitution states that those rights not enumerated to the government or the states are reserved to the people. YOU CAN BE SURE PRIVACY INVASION was the first thing states have been trying to undo since then. No amount of legislation or legalization or OUTLAWING of certain behaviors can undo your common law rights: consent is consent.; Reply to this comment

girl act? Is the boy alright mentally and emotionally? It doesn't take much to get a seventeen year old boy aroused. I'm not excusing him but was things going on before and the parents were not aware or denial. So many questions? Like Dr.Phil once said "no matter how thin the pancake is, it still has two sides" or there is always three sides to every story, my side, your side, and the right side. To DenverBroncofan: I doubt you would feel the same if it was your daughter. The pain of being sexually assaulted, no matter the age of the perpetrator, is a deep wound that can hurt for a lifetime.; Reply to this comment

This case will have to be thrown out as they are both juveniles and it was consensual
