Jordan Jefferson and Joshua Johns
/ WAFBJefferson and Johns turned themselves into police and were both booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, reports CBS affiliate WAFB.
A second-degree battery charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a fine up to $2,000. Both of the players posted a $5,000 bond on the charge. No timetable has been set on the suspension.
Jefferson and Johns are two of four LSU football players implicated in a fight outside a bar near campus. The other two players questioned by police, wide receiver Jarvis Landry and offensive tackle Chris Davenport, have not been charged.
A woman who claims to have witnessed the fight told police she saw Jefferson kick a man in his face during the fight, according to an initial police report released Thursday.
The report by the Baton Rouge Police Department stated officers responded to a 911 call about a fight in Baton Rouge around 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 19, reports the station.
In the report, the responding officer said no one was fighting when he arrived, but there was a crowd of people standing outside the bar.
