Rose was clocked going 46 mph in a 25-mph zone shortly before 9 p.m. on Wednesday night, Clawson Police Chief Harry Anderson said.
He was given a citation for going at least 10 mph over the limit.
Earlier Wednesday, Rose was sentenced to 93 days in jail for drunk driving in March. Judge Kimberly Small said Rose would only have to serve 20 of those days, provided he doesn't get into any additional trouble, reports CBS station WWJ.
The judge also reprimanded Rose saying this isn't about him, but the safety of everyone else. "You take the life of somebody I love, I'm not gonna care a thing about how much you've given to this community," Small said.
Rose was arrested March 11. He told a judge in May that he had six martinis the night he veered his SUV off a snowy road. It was a single car accident, in which no one was injured.
Rose was apologetic as he spoke to reporters following the sentencing.
"I acknowledge that a situation like this will never happen again, and tell all other drivers out there: Let this be a lesson. Don't drink and drive," Rose said, reports the station.
Defense attorneys accused Small of legislating from the bench. While an appeal is possible, Rose is to report to jail next Tuesday.
Rose, 38, played in the NBA for 13 years, reaching the finals with Indiana in 2000. He also was part of Michigan's famous Fab Five, which reached the NCAA title game in 1992 and 1993.
