Police say 61-year-old Yukari Miyamae of Longmont, Colo. admitted grabbing the left breast of a TSA agent Thursday afternoon at Phoenix's Sky Harbor Airport. Authorities say Miyamae refused to go through passenger screening and became argumentative before she squeezed the agent with both hands. She was arrested and released from jail on Friday.
Phoenix police say Miyamae had continued to argue with officers before she was arrested. She was arrested on suspicion of sexual abuse, which is a felony, but no charges have been filed.
As for her unhappiness with airport security, the New York Post quoted Miyamae as saying, "I go through this every week, and every week there is some problem."
The Department of Homeland Security defended the arrest, saying "the agency will not tolerate assaults against its workforce," the newspaper reported. A source denied that a TSA officer patted down Miyamae.
She's facing a preliminary hearing on Aug. 4.
A Facebook page in support of Miyamae had more than 500 supporters on Monday. Some posters on the page, though, defended the TSA's search procedures as necessary for public safety.
