(CBS/WKMG/AP) ORLANDO, Fla. - Prosecutors finished presenting their case Wednesday morning against Casey Anthony, who is on trial for first-degree murder in the death of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee.

Before resting on the day 19 of the trial, state attorneys introduced some items into evidence, including two cans that contain a portion of the trunk liner from Anthony's car, which state witnesses and family members of Anthony have said reeked of the smell of death the summer of 2008, reports CBS affiliate WKMG.

Judge Belvin Perry also read the definition of "bella vita," the words of the tattoo Anthony got on her back while Caylee was missing. In Italian, the words mean "beautiful life." Anthony agreed that the definition stated was correct, the station reports.

The jury was in the courtroom for five minutes Wednesday before being dismissed with strict orders not to discuss the case, use social media or watch newscasts.

Anthony's defense team said it will be ready to call its first witness on Thursday, but only if a standard motion asking the judge to throw out the case is denied. The defense began its arguments over the motion after the jury was dismissed, reports the station.

While presenting numerous witnesses over the last several weeks, prosecutors have laid out their case, saying that Caylee was suffocated with duct tape. A medical examiner testified that the cause of death was undetermined - only the "manner of death" was ruled to be homicide.

The state has built its mostly circumstantial case on Anthony's conduct and the lies she told about her daughter's whereabouts.

They also have relied on forensics experts. They've talked about smells of human decomposition in Anthony's car, searches on her computer, including how to make chloroform, and duct tape found on the girl's skull.

Caylee vanished in June 2008, and Anthony did not report her missing for a month. The child's skeletal remains were found in December 2008 in a wooded lot near the Anthony family home.

The defense claims Caylee drowned in the her grandparents' swimming pool.

Anthony, 25, has pleaded not guilty and faces the death penalty if convicted.

The Casey Anthony case was recently reported on by "48 Hours Mystery."

m Over 300 moms kill their kids in America every year. Most women it turns out were abused by their boyfriends or fathers, or stepfathers. Sadly, 99 % are sent to jail, rather than to a meaningful rehab, where understandiing and forgiveness replaces blame and punishment.

I believe she did it, and she has shown us so many times in this case that she is a compulsive liar. I am not even sure I belive she was molested and even if she was it has nothing to do with this at all. It is just another way for her to try to make you feel sorry for her. And who was saying that we should be more understanding???? Are you kidding me, I have no understaning for someone who murders anyone, certainly not a child.

The prosecution's case for murder was weak, at best. They proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Casey Anthony is a pathological liar, interfered with an investigation, and did not properly report the death of her daughter. They were unable to prove the cause of death, and are only speculating that it was murder. I was hoping they had a solid case, with actual evidence that a murder took place. Unfortunately, their case was nothing more than "here's what we think happened." It would be very difficult for me to convict her based on the state's evidence.

The child's death does matter and some kind of bogy man did not do it. They haven't proven that Casey Annthony did it, and that is the job of the prosecution. You don't convict people on "here's what we think happened" evidence. You need to prove beyond a reasonable doubt. Not probably did, or my gut feeling says...! The prosecution's case was weak. They were not even capable of showing a cause of death. If you don't know the cause of death, how do you know it was murder and not an accident?

Anthony's lawyers must be working with her on her acting day and night. Wouldn't be surprised if the lawyers hired an acting coach for her. I think she's bound to mess it up---if she takes the stand. How much crying and carrying on can we all stand? Maybe she's hoping the jury will beg to get back to their lives and end the whole trial if she can sob for 30 hours or something like that (total, not all at once.) It could hardly be more clear that she did it. Good Lord, is she really going to concoct and tell some grizzly made-up story of how her father molested her all those years? Common sense says a young woman who suffered being incested by her father from 8 or so to 23 would leave the home and live somewhere else. Live with a boyfriend, get married, become a hooker...it just seems like someone wouldn't stay under the same roof, and as an attractive young woman, she could have made good money as a stripper, something like that. Not pleasant or desirable...but better than being the object of your father's unwanted attention. It's a made-up story.

Look, From the evidence and the way Casey has responded to all of this you just about know for a fact shes guilty. But,even if she did commit such a terrible crime the death penalty is never right.Just put her behind bars for the rest of her life, she will catch enough hell in there. I mean this will be two family members gone.. i know one was innocent and one was a murderer, But at the end of the day 2 lives were taken out of this world. I mean imagine of you had a son or daughter and they did such a thing, You couldn't understand why they did it but they did it and now they die for one huge mistake they made. I pray to god that the death penalty is not the result, because killing her isn't going to change a darn thing. It would be more of a punishment to make her suffer in prison. And everyone can change.. but not given the chance to change is just...wrong, everyone deserves a second chance.

Im so sick of criminals using the "I've been sexually abused" for an excuse!!! It's BS....I was 5yrs old when I was molested and sodomized, 8/9 for incest, and 15 when I was date raped! I'm now in my 50's. Does this give me an excuse to go out and murder someone I can't stand?????? NO! Right is right, and wrong is wrong and unless u r totally out of touch w/ reality, you know the difference. I think her problem is she was the center of attention in mom & dad's eyes until Caylee came along. If she didn't want her why not let her father (whoever he is) have her or let Cindy & George raise her(hell no, not mom). Getting rid of her mistake was the only way she felt she could re-gain her princess status with mom & dad, especially dad!!! I don't believe her father or brother molested her. She may have been molested by someone but I don't believe it was either of them. Has Geo. & Lee's DNA ever been tested against Caylee's?? Maybe one of them is Caylee's father and that's why it's been kept secret??? That would certainly mess with her head. I just think she decided she didn't want the responsiblity of becoming an adult, she wanted mom & dad to pay for everything for her, keep Caylee so she could go out and party and get laid. Since she said Nanny existed since 2006, what other hell did that poor little Angel Caylee suffer????? This woman is an adult. She committed a heinous crime, and needs to be punished for it. Whether it was accidental or not makes no mistake. I agree w/DR. G, no child should ever have duct tape on their face be discarded in a trash bag by the side of the road. For God's sake any other young mom's out there: When it gets to tough for you to handle, speak up. Find someone you are confortable with and let them know you need help!!!!!! Please don't kill another innocent child. This has to stop. This has been tragic for everyone involved and even those who don't know the Anthony's. No one is a winner here, NO ONE. Does Casey deserve the death penalty? I believe yes, however send her to prison for life, she won't make it to her 30th birthday when she gets put in with the regular population. We all know what happens to adults who kill children. There's even a code among prisoner's concerning it. She won't last long. I fell especailly sorry for Cindy Anthony. She has lost her sunshine, will lose her daughter(no matter what stress was between them) and has to face allegations that perhaps her husban and son are child molesters. If nothing else people....PRAY FOR CINDY. Please pray for all of those involved and let's all take comfort in knowing that Caylee is not suffereing at the hands of her mother any longer and her soul went immediately to Heaven. She was not in that bag in the field, she shell was. GOD bless you all and if you need help,GET IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for listening, I needed to get this off my mind.

YOU obviously have many anger issues. When violence breaks out, it is easy to BLAME, but difficult to forgive and understand. If we can all forgive, we would be a much better society. Understand needs dialogue, which will not happen if we punish. Does this resonate with you ?

I am not saying that what she ? did was evil. I am only saying that to stop others, we need to understand and provide help, BEFORE violence breaks out.

Hope the defense knocks it out of the park!

over 250 mothers kill their kids in America, each year. This is usually brought on by depression and/or abuse from a male family member, or history of being abused in school by male teachers/boyfriend. Why is this particular woman being singled out for all the attention ? I think I know ( because of being "attrative" vs. the average 3, she is a 10.). Sadly, it is society's fault when violence breaks out, and blaming is too easy for all of us, when the real goal should be understanding, teaching and forgiveness.

I also agree she will be found guilty... And its really the parents that are suffering more...losing a granddaughter because your daughter murdered her...and now they're daughter going away to prison... But I still don't care, Casey has to pay the consequences now for what she did..Female or not...
Females have to follow the law too you know....And females get schizophrenia as well too you know...
