Casey Anthony lawyer asks that cameras be barred from trial

(CBS) - A lawyer for Casey Anthony, the Florida woman accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter Caylee, tried to get the judge in the case to prohibit cameras at Anthony's upcoming trial, a report says.

"We don't live in Egypt. We don't live in Libya," Superior Court Judge Belvin Perry Jr. said in the Orlando courtroom when asked by Jose Baez about restricting news coverage reports CNN. "There's a thing called the First Amendment. Whether we like it or not, it's in the Constitution."

Anthony, 25, is jailed on first-degree murder charges in the death of her daughter, Caylee, whose remains were found in December 2008. Caylee was 2 years old when she was reported missing in July 2008.

Judge Perry said he'd look at any formal requests to prohibit cameras, but made clear his preferences, reports CNN.

Jury selection is scheduled to begin May 9.

It hit me like a brainstorm!! Zanny the Nanny is Xanax! She gave lil Caylee Xanax to knock her out so she could go out, put her in the trunk of her car so nobody would see her while she partied and nobody would see her in the car and report her. After Casey's night out, she opened the trunk to find her dead and immediately shut it because in her sick mind, that didn't happen, left her in there, hence the smell, and days later put her in the trash bag and put her in the location where lil Caylee was found. The duct tape and the little heart was put over her mouth because she actually loved her but it was too late........ She probably would tell lil Caylee "let's go see Zanny the Nanny" before dosing her with Xanax, or this time Chloroform. Either way, Casey is guilty!!!!!! The grandparents are not responsible!!!! You can tell they cared for lil Caylee and are devastated by the lost of their grandbaby!!!!

I believe she placed the duct tape over little Caylee's mouth with the intent to silence her in the event that she awakened after being drugged with chloroform or xanax. Everything else I believe was right on. When she returned from partying and found little Caylee dead in the trunk, it was only then that she realized what she had done, and she then placed the heart- shaped sticker on the duct tape covering her mouth...

Well, it did not explain the 31 days, it did not put it to rest. This woman killed her daughter, then went out and went wild. That explains it all. How does an accidental drowning victim wind up with tape over her mouth and nose? I think that the father knew something was wrong and from the mother and brother testimony the mom was all over her about where the baby was. I am tired of people trying to excuse this kind of stuff. She killed her daughter and all the smoke and mirrors can't hide that fact!! Thank goodness for the death penalty, too bad it takes too long to enforce it!; Reply to this comment

Sounds like a victim of drugging and mind-control. There are these new technologies, see, where people are being drugged and maddened without their knowledge. It's also called NWO ZOG. (Personally, I call it Satanic NWO ZOG, but that's just me.) I can't believe there sacraficing this dads reputation for the sake of getting Casey off this way!!! This ought to prove the low they'll stoop. "IF" in fact the abuse alligations are in fact true, why in the hell isn't George Anthony in jail awaiting charges on those alligations instead of sitting next to his wife? This is a horrible joke and an insult to Caylee to even use this. It's all planned this way to get Casey off. George's saying what he's told to say for this reason. It shouldn't matter!
Second, the defence saying accidental swimming pool drownings happen every day. That is true, so my opinion about that is... You don't cover up or hide accidents. If she did drown they would have called 911 for assistance like everybody else does. You don't cover it up!!! Atleast not unless you have something to hide. I hope the jury sees right through this LIE!

by mmorgan39 May 24, 2011 8:13 PM EDT: I am open minded to the facts but the defence has got to come up with a good enough defence and find a shread of something they can use as proof. The state will present there case. I'm watching and hope the jury sees the proof.

The grandfather was messing with caylee now, meant to duct tape her mouth shut to keep her quiet because casey was at the house. but accidently blocked her nose. Kids faces are small, easy to do with big tape in the moment. IF the pool thing happened, HE faked the drowning to cover his lust mistake. Tossed caylee in the pool and then asked casey where she was. He scared casey into covering for herself but really it was to cover for him. He just had to hide the body long enough to let evidence of HIM deteriorate. Casey: once a victim always a victim. Her mom: mad at him and still covering. Probably mad at casey and caylee for being '******' that tempted him. Casey's tattoo, beautiful life: was a loveing memorial for the daughter she didn't protect. Plus that explains why the' ex cop' didn't want to call police.
Case solved.

by babbby May 24, 2011 4:05 PM EDT: Any normal parent or grandparent would never change their stories so many times and would want JUSTICE unlike these people. they are all GUILTY...of Caylee's murder they don't have an ounce of REMORSE..... partying knowing Caylee was dead, missing,not in her mothers or grandparents arms they are all guilty and should be treated as they did to Caylee!!!! no need to be orven guilty THEY proved by their actions..... by Just_Jac May 17, 2011 4:20 PM EDT: In this country - everyone is innocent until proven BEYOND a reasonable doubt guilty. You would not be selected to serve because your opinions are so contaminated that you already determined her guilty without fair due process through a trial by jury.

Regardless if she did the crime or not it is the state's job to prove her guilty. She does not have to prove she is innocent. Hence, innocent until proven guilty.
