Family, friends hold vigil for Holly Bobo, missing student feared abducted

(CBS/AP) PARSONS, Tenn. - Family and friends of missing 20-year-old nursing student Holly Bobo, who was reportedly dragged from her house Tuesday by a man wearing camouflage, held a vigil in her honor Wednesday.

The vigil was held in Bobo's hometown of Parsons, in western Tennessee. About 75 people showed up to pray for her and her family.

Town members not only prayed for Bobo, but they have searched, and continue to search for her. They have also posted flyers with her photo and taken food to her family, according to Decatur County Mayor Michael Smith. He said the close-knit community of 2,500 people has little crime.

Bobo's pastor, Don Franks, who has known her all her life, said the community's response has been exceptional.

"The whole community is praying for her safety and well-being," Franks said.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says that her 25-year-old brother told investigators he saw a man in camouflage dragging his sister across the carport at her family home and toward a wooded area.

The search area was widened Thursday and covers rugged terrain so thick that at least one search dog had to be carried by its handler on Wednesday afternoon, police said. Authorities also were using a helicopter to scan from the sky.

Bobo is 5-feet-3-inches tall and weighs 110 pounds. She was seen around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday wearing a pink shirt and light blue jeans.

by ossystemsgroup April 21, 2011 2:21 PM EDT: Now they have another case (of an attempted abduction) in Centerville, TN which happened months ago, AND another recent case of a hijacked and missing Teacher in Shelbyville, TN, both with similar case characteristics, it seems to me.
And this info, it appears, came independently from Centerville and Shelbyville sources, and not from the TN State Investigation Bureau.

by ellllen58 April 20, 2011 8:00 AM EDT: First off, When the lunch box was located they should have only had trackers in those woods and not just a bunch of volunteers... I agree the volunteers are helpful, but when it comes to tracking, I feel they could have followed the trail from there. 4 wheelers, volunteers footprints, ect..cover the tracks a lot of the times.. I am a SAR tracker so I do know these things. If I could have gotten off work I would have been there to help, but by the time we could have gotten there from south Mississippi the tracks were already damaged.

by lwalker2300 April 18, 2011 2:21 PM EDT: ok so the first CBS news I saw about this, said her brother saw a guy dressed in Camo drag her into the woods. And that the parents had left for work. Now I read that the Mom and Brother saw her being dragged, another story says the brother saw her witha guy he thought was her Boyfriend and the next time he looked she was gone and he saw blood. another story is saying she was not dragged, but led into the woods or was drawn by something. that is a crock of S*** . I smell something fishy here and I think the brother is hiding something. These arent things that could be taken different ways, either he saw her being dragged or he did, the mother was home or she wasnt. RED FLAGS everywhere or very poor reporting false information.; Reply to this comment

This is so senseless..women and youth need to learn to defend themselves from everyone. Do your Mom, sister, girlfriend and children a favor.. Simple safety and defense anyone can learn and be safer..
please.. learn how easy it can be to remember 10 things to do to stay safe and 10 more to fight back against an assailant.

.. If everyone learns to defend themselves..together we can put assailants OUT of BUSINESS..

by USMC-Mom April 15, 2011 11:39 AM EDT: If your only getting info from this site you need to hush until you see all our local channels in TN. WKRM, WTVF, WSMV. Sadly you cant get all the infor from one channel. I had to watch all 3 myself. The story changes from channel to channel so getting a clear picture is very hard.

There is something not right with this brother. Maybe the cops are keeping some information on this close to the vest.
Yes, this brother could have run behind and kept up at a safe distance. Something seems rotten in Denmark.

by carlisle123 April 15, 2011 9:00 AM EDT: I saw an aerial view of Holly Bobo's home and surrounding areas on the Today Show....noticed a swimming pool in back yard with cover still over it. Didn't look like it had been moved or checked.. showed water still on top of cover. When I saw it chills ran over me. I may be wrong but she may be in the pool. Because I agree with everyone else regarding the brother. Why didn't he do something. Is his mother protecting him and knows what happened? None of it adds up. If all the houses are pretty distant from each other why didn't the stranger just pull up in the driveway and get her. Why take her through the woods?; Reply to this comment
