(CBS/AP) CLEVELAND, Texas - At a town-hall meeting Thursday night supporters of the men accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl blamed the alleged victim for her own gang rape.

The meeting was called to discuss concerns some were having about the investigation, but then it turned into a forum for many to blame the girl.

Others have said earlier in the week that they were outraged by the attacks. The age of consent in Texas is 17.

Police say the girl was sexually assaulted during several attacks last year. The alleged gang rape took place at an abandoned mobile home in Cleveland, Texas, about 40 miles northeast of Houston, and police say the attack was captured on cell phone video.

The authorities have arrested 18 people, including two of Cleveland's star high school athletes and adults with criminal records. They face assault and abuse charges.

Where is the outrage, the demonstrations, the White Liberals? Had this been an African American girl raped by Whites or Hispanics and thers, it would have been a different story. Almost two-thirds of child abuse of every kind in the USA is perpetrated by women. Close to 400 children are killed every year by their mothers. No one ever questions womens access to children.

90% of child-porn is produced by parents.

99.9% of children abductions are perpetrated by noncustodial parents.

I just want to say one thing about this. I believe that what those men did was wrong and they should be treated accordingly, but at the same time that does not mean that the little girl is not to blame as well. If what the reports that were made were true and this young girl dressed and acted the way she did then you can not say that she is not equally at fault. They even said that on her Facebook that she enjoyed sex drugs and alcohol so obviously she new what she was doing. I am in no way saying that what these men did were right at all, but we cant just overlook her part just because she is 11 years old. I know that kids today are not what kids were back then. They know too much for their ages and because of that things like this happen.

It should NEVER matter what the victim was wearing, eating, or drinking before, after, or during a rape. The only thing that matters is whether there was consent present and if there was a rapist involved. As an ELEVEN YEAR OLD, she can never, I repeat, NEVER give consent. I don't care if she walked into the room naked and BEGGED FOR IT. It was NOT consent, it was NOT her fault, and YOU are a filthy, disgusting victim blamer and RAPE APOLOGIST. I hope that you don't have any sisters or daughters, because I shudder to think what kind of "advice" you'd give them if they were assaulted (as 1 in 6 women in the US are). I'd imagine it'd go something like this: "You really shouldn't have worn that outfit/had any alcohol/gone outside. You put yourself in that situation, and I don't care if the rapist is the only part of your night that guaranteed that you'd be raped, it's still your fault." You make me sick.

Even a grown up should be able to wear what they want, but anyone who stands up for these rapist need only hear ONE sentence that counters all their arguements. An 11-year old can NOT consent. No matter what.

The fault soley is on the disgusting animals that did that to her. She is a child. It doesn't matter what was on facebook. Sex is different than rape. How do you know if she even posted that? Even if she did so what. Children say all types of things that may or may not be true. The bottom line is no one deserves to be rape. Please don't think that way. She didn't deserve that.

by n1na1 April 28, 2011 10:51 PM EDT: There is no way that a 11 yr old girl who planted trees with her classmates and in honor roll, before all this happened, would ever want to have numerous (19-28) overgrown, disgusting, sick guys touching her, much less gang-raping her. I can only imagine the fear she felt after being threatened to be beaten and killed if she didn't go along. If you're in a room with multiple guys, music blaring (to hide the horror)and taking turns on a young child you have to know you were involved in commiting a crime. Could someone please explain to me why the girl's "friend", the one that led the victim to the bathroom, isn't facing any charges?..Why isn't her picture posted on this article..Am I shocked by this rape?..no..What do you expect from a world that okays gay lifestyles, bisexuals, swinging, swapping, orgies, porn all over the internet, punishing parents for whipping their own child's behind when he or she misbehaves, etc..No wonder kids do these things, their use to getting away with everything else..

Hell it's mentioned in the Bible (look up what happens to Lot's daughters). Also despite this culture you rape is at its lowest rate in decades.

A 2% prosecution rate tells the men of this society (97% committed by males) that it's a crime they can commit and run very little risk of being held accountable for it. Blaming the victim is despicable (regardless of age) but seems to be the norm for our society. What does it say about our society when many States are how making a concerted effort to further weaken the definition of rape. Think about what that will do to the rate of prosecutions. We like to beat our drum and condemn other countries for how they treat females but we obviously have very little respect for females in this one as well.; Reply to this comment
