Lindsay Lohan Expected to Appear in Court Not Once, But Twice This Week

(CBS/AP) LOS ANGELES - Lindsay Lohan is expected to appear in court Wednesday, where a judge could decide whether an allegation that the actress stole a $2,500 necklace can be resolved without a trial.

However, even if the "Mean Girls" actress manages to dodge the grand theft bullet, she's due in court again Friday for a probation hearing, where a judge will decide whether to press battery charges against her for an alleged altercation with a worker at the Betty Ford Rehabilitation Clinic in December, reports USA Today.

In both cases, Lohan and her attorney have denied any wrongdoing.

Lohan pleaded not guilty to the felony grand theft charge earlier this month claiming she was loaned the "one of a kind" necklace from an upscale jeweler in the beachside community of Venice, California.

At her Feb. 9 arraignment, Lohan's attorney Shawn Holley said his client would be willing accept a plea deal if the terms are right.

Lohan's other legal dilemma stems from Dec. 12 after she tried to sneak back into the rehab center after curfew, and reportedly refused technician Dawn Holland's request to submit to a breathalyzer test.

Holland, who was later fired for giving an interview to TMZ, claims that Lohan became belligerent, pushed her, and snatched a phone from her hand causing her to severely sprain her right arm; however, Holland has since changed her tune and no longer wishes to press charges.

Unfortunately for the legally challenged actress, the Riverside district attorney may want to follow through with the charges.

If the district attorney's office decides Lohan's skirmish with the rehab worker warrants a battery charge, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Elden Fox, who has dealt with Lohan in the past, has said she could be sent back to jail for violating the terms of her probation.

The outcomes of these two pending court cases could decide Lohan's fate for the next three years.
