Arizona Shooting Victim Remains Under Psychiatric Evaluation Following Town Hall Outburst

TUCSON, Ariz. (CBS/AP) James Eric Fuller, one of the wounded in the Jan. 8 mass shooting in Tucson, Ariz., remains under psychiatric evaluation following his arrest Saturday for threatening a Tea Party leader during a televised town hall meeting.

Authorities say Fuller, a military veteran and self-described liberal, began ranting at the end of ABC's "This Week" program with Christiane Amanpour, then took a picture of Tucson Tea Party leader Trent Humphries and yelled, "You're dead."

"Deputies made contact with him, attempted to remove him, and he turned around and yelled at everybody and called them all whores," Pima County sheriff's spokesman Jason Ogan told The Associated Press.

While Fuller, 63, was being escorted out, deputies decided he needed a mental health evaluation and he was taken to a hospital. Ogan said the hospital will determine when Fuller will be released.

Fuller was arrested on misdemeanor disorderly conduct and threat charges, according to the sheriff.

He released a written statement Monday, apologizing to Humphries for his "misplaced outrage."

"It was not in the spirit of our allegiance and warm feelings of each other as citizens of this great country," Fuller said in the statement.

Fuller was shot in the knee and back when a gunman opened fire at a meet-and-greet for Rep. Gabrielle Giffords two weeks ago. The congresswoman was critically injured in the mass shooting that left six people dead.

Humphries, co-founder of the Tucson Tea Party, told the AP that he was worried about Fuller's threat, and dozens of other angry e-mails he has received from people blaming right-wing political rhetoric for contributing to the Jan. 8 massacre

.Alleged gunman Jared Loughner, 22, remains jailed in a federal lockup in Phoenix.

liberals life, there would be 24 hour news coverage.

The only reason Tea Partiers get so much press because they are incredibly stupid and actually murder people. I can't count the number of times I've been threatened by republicans.


by awakw January 19, 2011 12:51 AM EST: As for Mr. Fuller. He says he was discharged from the military on a "non physical disability" gee, I wonder what that means! He claims he was shot in the back and the knee and drove himself to the hospital. He claims he didn't wait for ambulance nor assist others who were wounded because he didn't know anything about first aid!? Gun shot wound to the knee would put him in surgery and a cast, all he has shown is a thin suture line and in the videos, he isn't limping from such a fresh wound. Bullet to the back should have thwarted mobility. He has a profile on a site called, hypnothoughts.com. He has quite the past, it seems he has been in trouble with the law in Oregon, a third degree sexual offense. I wonder if his problems aren't very far away from Loughners. The recent tragedy in Arizona has reminded & reinforced in me, one of my life purposes. I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder when I was 19 (35 Now), and spent 6 stays in the psychiatric ward in my twenties... I was committed against my will every time. I have unique insight into the mental health experience and my gift is my ability to express, articulate and describe the experience from multiple perspectives. I believe my personal experience combined with my ability to analyze and communicate the experience is special and more importantly, valuable. I'd like to start a consulting firm/education foundation that provides training and education to schools, colleges, law enforcement agencies, etc-

by awakw January 18, 2011 5:57 PM EST: We now know, this young man was disturbed, had been influenced by conspiracy theory films and books such as "Mein Kampf" and "The Communist Manifesto". His friend and next door neighbor interviewed on Good Morning America who gave facts about the kid. He wasn't influenced by conservative talk radio because he never listened to it. It would seem, Mr. Fuller and others have been listening to the idiot Dupnik. That inept Sheriff has perhaps tainted the jury pool; giving the Defense a legal leg to stand upon.
