SANDUSKY, Ohio (CBS/AP) How much do you care about the freshness of your french fries?

Probably not as much as Robert A. Quillen, who reportedly got into a dispute at a McDonald's in Perkins, Ohio over the fast food staple that ended only when police arrived.

Authorities said that Quillen refused fries that were already waiting in their serving pouches at the restaurant in northern Ohio Sunday night.

The man claimed the fries were not fresh, but manager Sean Rine disagreed, reports the Sandusky Register.

According to the paper, Rine offered to give Quillen his money back, but the customer refused, saying he was not leaving till he got fresh fries for his wife.

That's when the police were called.

When police arrived, Quillen claimed an employee had hit with a mop. The Sandusky Register reports that a witness said the worker had only acted like he was going to hit the man and said the customer called the employee a derogatory name.

No charges were filed. Police say the man got his money back and left without fries - fresh or otherwise.

Ok, I dont eat Mcdonalds often but when I do I sure do like my fries to be fresh and ask for french fries to be cooked when I order. I have never been refused this nor been given an argument. Plus, I have never gotten a manager with an attitude that wouldnt do that for me. Really though, I have never even had to ask for a manager for asking for fresh fries(at Mcdonalds)... The associates already do it. Sounds like this manager was a little overzealous and any employee that would refuse a customers very reasonable request probably should not be working in the food industry. I would also hope that Mcdonalds(the business as a whole) would probably have preferred that the manager make the customer a fresh batch of fries rather than have to front some bad publicity because that manager had an attitude. CentralCalGrrrl you are mean and I dont agree with your blast on thejoker12. So, youre saying you like your food to be sitting around, old, lukewarm and limp? I think not! I know there is nothing worse than getting ready for some fresh, hot Mcdonalds french fries and getting some limp, grease laden ones that have been sitting forever. As far as the other fast food restaurants: Burger King also honors my request for "fresh fries down" without pause and they will go a step further and actually make my beef patty fresh if I so request. Wendys is the worst for getting old, limp fries if you dont ask for them fresh. I can say that they have given me a little attitude when asking for fresh fries and once I had an associate back-talk when they thought I wasnt listening and re-fried a batch of french fries and served them to me. Needless to say the manager wasnt very happy with the associate when he was informed of that and replaced my whole meal. So, theres my take on the whole thing, be it my opinion. Im sure a whole lot of other folks out there would agree with me.

Sounds to me like some people are getting WAY too obsessed with fast food. I have heard many stories of people going balistic in fast food restaurants. It's almost like these people should see themselves on tape and realize they are out of control. There are people who fly off the handle because they can't get chicken nuggets at Mc Donald's during breakfast hours. Really? How desperate can someone be for processed and deep fried chicken that they get to the point of being arrested? That is a sickness.

Absolutely. French fries have only a 10 minute life span after they are cooked. If the workers hand over 8 minute old fries they are only good for 2 minutes before they are normally tossed into the garbage. What is worse is when workers redip your fries giving the illusion of fresh cooked. These fries however are extra crispy and hard to eat. It is hard to prove the employees were in the wrong and they won't admit it either. They will just threaten to beat your butt for complaining. Some McDonald workers over salt your burgers wasting the money you spent on your meal. Customers can't prove that either. I have been black listed in my town McDonalds for complaing about the same and similar stuff. Don't serve me a buger with dried crusted cheese. Hardees is better.

Actually McDonald's fries are only good for 7 minutes from the time you pull them out of a fryer.
