KATY, Texas (CBS/KHOU) Texas mother Lori Darling David is facing charges for allegedly sending nude pictures of herself to her friend's 16-year-old son.

The 37-year-old is charged with online solicitation of a minor.

According to CBS affiliate KHOU, investigators said David used to be jogging buddies with the victim's mother, and that the victim and David's son, also 16, were classmates and friends.

The victim told investigators David befriended him while she was volunteering at Katy Taylor High School and asked to be his friend on Facebook.

The victim said he and David then began communicating via Facebook, e-mail and text message on a regular basis, and their conversations were often sexual.

According to court documents obtained by KHOU, David sent the teen two lewd photos of herself on Oct. 14.

Investigators said David was completely nude in both photos.

On November 4, investigators with the Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force executed a search warrant at David's home. They said David confessed to having sent the images.

She was arrested and taken to the Harris County Jail, where she posted bond Thursday afternoon.

Reading comprehension is obviously a real problem in America.
Little wonder you cannot understand that much of our law comes from religion. For example: Sunday closings of businesses, outright prohibition of alcohol sales in many communities, prohibition of the sale of specified items like hardware on Sunday, prosecution for adultery, tax advantages and postal discounts for religions, etc.

Do not confuse the above with laws based on ethics, like the prohibition against murder and theft. Some religious law is hurtful with dire unintended consequences. In my view prurient interests in other peoples sex lives most often comes from puritanical religionists.

As for the Saudi reference, most people know that there is a special police force in Saudi Arabia that enforces religious law. For example, women are made to wear a black bag covering their entire body in 100-degree temperatures. Religions says this is for their *protection*. They are chattel to be inherited or thrown away. America is not so extreme but the principle is the same. Religion makes bad law. Many of our sex laws are BAD LAW.; Reply to this comment

If the **logic** of mecury69 were not so hurtful, it would be laughable. By imposing the prurient interest of religiously based laws into the lives of David and the two boys, misguided intentions and unintended consequences have destroyed lives. If the boy sent any photos, he could be labeled a *sex offender* for LIFE. Such laws DO NOT PROTECT. They do more harm to those they in tend to *protect* than can be imagined.

This sort of *protection* reminds me of the *protection* imposed on females in Saudi Arabia. Religion makes BAD LAW.

Still trying to understand you point. And how this reminds you ANYTHING of Saudi Arabia....not that is a stretch.

This is why we have laws to protect teens since they are unable to make reasoned decisions.

Adults, however, are. And they are to be responsible and care for the young in society. If not, they are punished as which MUST BE DONE.

Equally and impartially regardless of age, race or gender.

First and foremost they are protected and processed as minors, not as adults.

I don't see anything wrong with a parent allowing a kid to have a beer, wine, or glass of champagne in sensible amounts. When I was 9, I had to sip wine at church though I didn't like it. And the fully rationalized brain/thought thing, it doesn't happen exactly on your 18th birthday. Some it doesn't happen til mid twenties, some it happens before 18th.

Basically, once you start drinking or using drugs the end mental development of the brain is damaged. The electrical pathways are cross wired.

It's a fact that the brain's creates pathways and develops well past 16 years old. It is also a fact that alcohol and drugs retard and prohibit the electrical pathways from developing correctly.

Of course, some people mature faster, some slower but even you must agree there cannot be a sliding scale. The age is 18.

Perhaps the prevalent opinion that underage drinking is ok is why we have 'leaders' who are emotionally void, reckless and irresponsible?

I'll go with science and facts over the masses 'opinion' as to what is ok and what is not.

Why should we allow religionists to define the human body as evil and ugly? Much of the world views the human body, MALE AND FEMALE, as **Living Art**. I prefer that view to the pathological religious viewpoint. Religion*s determination to view the world as evil and ugly has made the world evil and ugly. Police are doing the dirty work for toxic religionists who seek to impose their puritanical views on the rest of humanity. GET RELIGION OUT OF LAW.

FACT: The human brain does not fully develop until 18. People under 18 do not have full development of the emotional and reasoning areas of the brain. That is why we have laws against drinking/drugs, etc. It is also why we have laws against sexual relations with underage drinking.

This has nothing to do with religion.

Maybe you are repressing something?

This sick woman is getting exactly what she deserves. For a grown woman to be pursuing a sixteen-year-old child is disgusting and, thankfully, illegal. Everyone who supports this sexual relationship needs to realize that a sixteen-year-old kid is guided by hormones, and additionally does not have the maturity or life experiences behind him to make informed choices, like that of a woman of 37 years. Obviously, that means she is in a position that allows her to take advantage of him! Also, what if she got pregnant? He's in no place to take care of a child - because he is one! Now do you see why this is illegal?

by xxxjackofspadesxxx November 15, 2010 12:06 PM EST: It said in story the 16 yr old asked her to be his friend on facebook. That means he pursued her. Second there was no sexual contact between them, only sexual flirtation online, with the worst part of it being 2 nude pictures sent to him. Notice that it doesn't say if she sent them without his permission or if he requested them. And just as you say this 16 yr old is guided by hormones so is she. She is probably in her sexual peak right now just as he is.

I think the reason why everyone is siding with her is because this is more of an issue of technicality than morality. In 31 states, it is legal for an adult to have sexual relations with a 16 yr old. When 16 year olds, even 15 yr olds kill people, they can be tried and sentenced just as an adult on the grounds that they knew the difference between right and wrong.

In truth, age is not a factor in whether or not you can have a sexual relationship with someone so much as maturity is. There are many relationships between adults where one adult is not mature enough and gets emotionally abused and taken advantage of. Just listen to the Mel Gibson tapes. You think he is resonsible enough to be a father? He knocked out his wifes teeth while she had their baby in her arms.

Of course, we can not set a standard where people have to prove their maturity and then have a permit or liscence to engage in sexual acts, so society sets age limits. The age of consent is more like a cut off date in school to determine whether u have to wait a year or not.

So, while what this woman did was illegal in the state of Texas, in other states such an act would not be. She should have her day in court to answer for this, however, she does not belong in the same boat as some 40 year old man preying on 14 year old girls for the sole purpose of "geting off". Those guys are predators, not this lady. She is just a fool blinded by love it would seem, and she certainly does not deserve cameras outside the jail waiting for her to get out, nor does she deserve to have her face on homepage here for whole nation to see.

And for the record, Arnold Schwarzeneggar had a sexual relationship with a 16 yr old that lasted for years behind his wifes back, and he became the elected Governor of California, not once, but twice.

Yes, adults make poor decisions, but a 37-year-old woman should certainly know that there are consequences to her actions - moreso than a child.
