GREAT BEND, Kan. (CBS/KWCH) Police are trying to determine whether a body found a few miles outside of a rural Kansas town is that of 14-year-old Alicia DeBolt, who was reported missing from her home on Saturday.

CBS affiliate KWCH has been told the body discovered Tuesday is not identifiable and that the body was sent to Wichita for an autopsy and positive identification.

Alicia was last seen on August 21 leaving her Great Bend house around 11:00 p.m. with a 19-year-old man to go to a party. According to her mother, Tammy Conrad, the two were supposed to meet another friend at a nearby gas station, but they never showed up.

Her mother later called the police after she missed her midnight curfew.

Great Bend Police Chief Dean Akings told KWCH he couldn't disclose much information, yet. However, the chief said law enforcement officers who had been searching for Alicia were "focusing in a different direction" late Tuesday.

Alicia is described as 5-feet-4-inches tall and 118 pounds.

Anyone with information on her disappearance is urged to contact the Great Bend Police Department at 620-793-4120.

You know, it's so easy for us to sit here and say... "aw she shoulda done this and she shoulda done that" But who the hell are we to judge others?? I do not know this mother that lost her beautiful baby girl but my heart aches terribly for her, their family, friends and acquaintances. I can not even begin to imagine the pain and desperation that mother must be going through. My sweet little boy is nearly two years old and the thought of something happening to him disgusts me. However, yes the thought crossed my mind also about her being out late but let me ask you this... Have u never made a mistake, or gave in when your little one begged and pleaded?? Oh I forgot.... I'm talking to blabbering, judgmental jerks that have no sympathy for the friends or family that may possibly be reading this. It's judgmental jerks like most the people on here that make me sick, and yeah.... May God also have mercy on your souls cuz y'all are no better than the idiot that killed her, with your judgmental remarks. For the family and friends and especially to her mom: My deepest sympathy and I will continue to pray for your family.

This judgemental jerk is a police detective and parent of 3 kids..there is a difference between a simple mistake and a mistake that endangers your child...Small town or not the issue is a girl under the age of consent in the company of a 19yr old male headed to a party at 11pm at night..14yr olds do not have the maturity or the experience to deal with 19yr olds and adult situations.

You don't give in to your child with everything they want! This was a 14 year old - this was no mistake! You simply DO NOT let a 14 year-old go to a party with a 19 year-old and that's that! Why didn't the mother take enough interest in learning more about this 19 year-old that her daughter was interested in? Why not take the time to drive her daughter to where

I never knew Alicia DeBolt but I am a mother and have two daughters myself. This is every parent?s worst nightmare. You have my deepest sympathy. what is even scarier is my daughter had a vehicle approach her Monday of this week wanting her to go to it and the cops did nothing abought it...how sad is that...again my deepest sympathy?s to the family and friends that knew Alicia, and all of the mom's AND dad's that this has hit home too.sad sad day for all here in barton county....

As a mother would you let your 14yrd old go out at 11pm with a 19yr old to a party....unfortunately the mother in this case was criminally negligent

This is a tragedy. I am so sorry this child lost her life in a situation in which she did not belong in the first place. This does not mean her mother is to blame...her murderer is to blame...but is does show that there are reasons that a 14 year old TEEN should not be in association with a 19 year old MAN. No, it is not the first time this has happened but we should all work towards making it the last...I would be VERY suspect and concerned about a nineteen year old man wanting to date or associate at 11pm with a 14 year old teen. There are a lot of things that men do that 14 year old teens can't...and shouldn't be doing. Those feelings being vented...I hope her mother can cope through life with this tragedy and I hope this child's spirit is at rest.

NOne of you have any rights to condemn the mother. Like this is the first 14 yr old to be with a 19 yr old. Get in the real world!!! Do not judge lest thee be judged. Yes, the mother could have made a better decision, but that stands true for thousands of parents and all of us need to realize that could have been our child or grandchild. So stop judging and have some empathy for the family and friends of Alicia. RIP Alicia.

My thoughts exactly. U think people would reach out to others in their time of grief but all I ever see, is people condemning others. It is not our place to judge. I just wish I would give the mom a hug, my heart aches deeply for her...

I am blown away by how this mother did not have that "Gut Instinct" to make a better decision than this and protect her child. "Parents" Wake UP!I can tell when a "Childcare Center" is shady and immediately remove my child.

I understand the Mom is in pain with what happened but the story is out that she let her daughter leave at 11pm to go to a party with a 19yr old, she had a curfew set at midnight. It just makes no since to me small town or not makes no since. I have a son who is 15 he is in bed for nearly 2hrs by the time she left the home we also live in a small town, very small. I know the dangers out there, and my Son will be supervised by me at night, during the day he has very strict rule's to go by, I know where he is at 24 hrs a day, I have to protect him, no one else can, not even himself at that age. I just know you can't trust anyone, why he lives here I make sure he safe, secure, and happy. He understands. I feel for her Mom I do, but things have to be a certain way to protect your children, strict or not it has to be this way. Such a sad story, such a beautiful young lady, my prayers are with the family, and with Alicia.

I agree. You folks leaving comments condemning Tammy, Alicia's mom, don't know her, don't have all the facts, aren't from the community, don't know our pain. We have a small rural community, we tend to know who are children are out with, we know the parents of the children our children our out with (regardless of age)which is why it IS such a tragedy for us. Shame on you and I pray that God can open your eyes and shut your mouths.

You "urban-ites" are morons and don't know half the story. Don't pass judgment until you have all the facts.
