Green was shot in the face following an altercation after he and a friend were turned away from the Greenhouse club in lower Manhattan.
Witnesses say another man got out of a car and fired two shots into Green's torso before speeding away, according to the New York Daily News.
Police believe the fatal shooting is not related to the prior controversy surrounding Green.
Green and fellow EMT Melisa Jackson had been under criminal investigation for their response to a 25-year-old distressed woman at a Brooklyn bakery Dec. 9, 2009. They were in line at the bakery when six-months-pregnant Eutisha Rennix collapsed.
Witnesses that day say the EMTs told workers to call 911 and left without helping the woman, whose prematurely born baby also died. Green and Jackson deny any wrongdoing.
