Sheral Smith (PICTURES): Teacher Gets 7 Years for Sex with Student

BRANDON, Miss. (CBS/AP) Sheral Smith, a former Mississippi private school teacher, will spend seven years of her life in prison after pleading guilty to having sex with a 14-year-old student.

Smith pleaded guilty to statutory rape of the boy on Monday, after Judge Samac Richardson found her competent to stand trial.

According to The Clarion-Ledger, she spent seven months in the psychiatric ward at the State Hospital in Whitfield. Her attorney said she suffered a breakdown.

She was suspended after being accused of having sex with a teen who was a student at New Summit School in northeast Jackson, Miss.

According to the paper, the relationship began in the summer of 2008. Smith was not the boy's teacher.

"We were able to determine at least four different times she had sexual intercourse with the child - three at her residence, one of those occurring at the victim's residence," Madison-Rankin District Attorney Michael Guest told the paper.

Smith was charged in Sept. 2008. She pleaded guilty to four counts of statutory rape. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison with 13 suspended.

by nleeklee February 1, 2013 11:33 PM EST: Sheral was feral. How obvious is this? Feral: A domesticated species that has reverted to living in the wild. If only her parents had named her Sheryl. All they had to do was replace one letter. I mean, really, how expensive is a "y?" You can draw the lower case one with straight lines, much easier than all those curves in the lower case "a." But her curves probably got her in trouble in the first place. And, she obeyed the curvy, or crooked "a" in her life, and not the straight "y." What a bummer. by mjlewis6 June 9, 2010 2:01 PM EDT: And the intellectual rape of the public continues with enforcement of "victimless" crimes and the abuse of perpetrators with the official state label of public monster. Give me a break. Sex does not belong to the state to issue permits.

How about we are all victims of abortion rights? a Legalized murder?

More than enough doctors and mothers to be sent to prison to satisfy the government for repeat business and garner taxes?

Ever heard of privacy?

How about we lock up all the students that are NOT virgins so as to prevent a new horde of promiscuous people who will commit murder under abortion rights...oh, that right! ! IT is ok since it makes bucks for doctors and the state can't interfere with that kind of murder.; Reply to this comment
