Cheyenne Williams Attacked by Classmates Because She's a Lesbian, Parents Claim

MCKEE, Ky. (CBS/AP) Cheyenne Williams says three of her classmates kidnapped her and took her to Flat Lick Falls, a remote area 60 miles south of Lexington, Ky., where they beat her and tried to push her off a cliff - and she says they did it because she is gay.

The incident happened on April 16, a national "Day of Silence" intended to raise awareness about bullying and harassment due to sexual orientation. Williams' mother believes that is what was at the root of the attack.

Williams has known the three suspects since sixth grade and has been "out" for years, but Kentucky State Police say they haven't yet found evidence to substantiate a qualification of a hate crime, according to CBS affiliate WKYT.

According to the criminal complaint, filed by Williams on Monday, the three suspects took Williams against her will to Flat Lick Falls were they allegedly attacked her at the falls and tried to push her off a 50-foot cliff, state police said. Williams then brandished a stick at the girls and was able to get away.

The girls later found her and forced her back into the car but then let her go, warning her not to say anything, according the complaint.

School officials said the "Day of Silence" anti-violence event Friday, promoted by the national Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Alliance, did spark some controversy on campus. While some students wore stickers in support of the observance, others protested the event by wearing stickers that said "Gay is not the way." It wasn't clear which side of the debate the three suspects were on.

Ashley N. Sams, 18, of Annville and Corrine M. Schwab, 18 of Sandgap, were arrested and charged with kidnapping and attempted murder. A third 17-year-old girl was also charged in connection with the attack but those charges, and her name, are being withheld because she is a juvenile.

Schwab was released Wednesday on $25,000 bond. She is to be arraigned next week.

Sams remained jailed Wednesday. She is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.

Now because of this, three young girls threw their lives away for what? What did they accomplish doing this? You must be getting your stats from the gay journals and your version of a homosexual loving god from the ngv bible, new gay version. You're so full of bull its ridicules. Read some real books on gay stats and read the real bible on where gays and fall teachers will end up . , better change before its too late, God is holy!

Your bible is been re-written scores of time I did not say I was consulting some antique book for modern stats that is what you are doing not me. Oh there is a Gay bible? Missed that on Fox too. I am getting my stats from Lancet and The New England Journal of Medicine. I would hardly think of those as gay publications. You better change before it is too late hell will be full of haters like you! God is Holy and God is Great God also created LGBT people. Deal with it. You can not have God your terms AGAIN you are NOT GOD as much as you think you are right you are not GOD. Read some real books on Gay stats.. you mean like the ones you are not quoting? The fact that you really believe that "Not 50 years ago homosexuality was a rare occurrence, boys were boys and girls were girls" just shows how fully uneducated you are on the subject. There WERE just as many LGBT people then as there are today it just was not talked about or accepted so many people hid. What you call the "Gay Agenda" is really a case of basic human rights. 50 years ago an African American could not marry a Caucasian...would you have us go back to that as well?

You obviously know nothing of evolving Science that corrects findings and disputes widely accepted norms by proving them wrong with advancement in the discipline. Keep talking you show how ignorant you are. If people were terrified to be out and who the person God made them... what makes you think they would tell some doctor collecting statics? If you took the same poll today the number still would be low due to fear and those still closeted by stigma.

The only shame is that the people - false "men of God" who encourage this crime are not going to be sentenced to life also.

If Germany had a hate speech laws in the 1930s, as it and some other countries have now, Hitler would have spent his life in Jail, and 50 million would not have been murdered. And in case you are interested, hitler in his writings talked a lot about God, Christianity and values. The man who was the worst monster in the world in modern times. Responsible for 50 million deaths.

Parts of Christianity are every bit as evil and vile as Hitler. Which is what we see in the letter at the top. And this is the same christianity that supported slavery, and created the KKK and segregation to take its place. And now it has a new victim to hate, the gays.

Jesus said there were only two commandments "Love God, and Love thy neighbor as thyself". We love our gay friends, and find them to be ordinary hardworking decent people, some members of our church which truly believes in Jesus commandments, and that Gay people are part of God's creation.

For the haters, it is they who should repent. for there will be a judgement day. And when that day comes, those who hate, denigrate, and even encourage the murder of parts of God's creation will receive God's justice. And we don't think it will be just a slap on the hand.; Reply to this comment

Your example of what happened before ww2 is exactly right ,hitler deceived the masses into thinking he was doing the right thing. those who opposed his views and ways were labeled as idiots and bigoted. They were proven right after it was too late. The same is happening now with regards to homosexual propaganda that they are doing the right thing and the christians are labeled as idiots and bigots. None of them seek to corrode their families foundation. Quite contrary they embraced what God has made. the church is the party that is guilty of destroying families but the abusing their children mentally and physically and systematically brushing it under the rug. The Pope himself is complicit in the church sanctioned perversion of the greatest magnitude the sexual abuse of special needs children by men that identify themselves as heterosexual. Or the rape and sexual slavery of young girls in Utah and Texas brain washed to think it is okay to be victimized by their family. Seems Christians should help their own who are wandering and lost direction. That would be a better use of their time and efforts
The back woods churches where the pastor abuses children or bed hoping with church members... The Christian Church seems to be doing a pretty good job of corroding the foundation of your house. Where are those standards and principles?
Some Christians should move out of the way and let their God work through them with compassion and love.
What some Christian do not understand is God has this it ALL... is their job to follow not beat up, bully, kill, exclude, terminate, harass.

I fail to see how homosexuals threaten your way of life... do you have a ban of decorators about to invade your home or something? That is just unrealistic. Specifically I would really like to understand how you believe that.

No gay would want you to embrace anything you have to offer; moreover, they do not need you to save them from anything.
I am sure they all respect your right to live life as you choose. Respect your sense of honor and patriotism and the principles you hold dear. The truth is all the gay people I know are very principled and live to a very high standard. They are altruistic, loving, creative, hard working, patriotic, honorable and above all heavily taxed Americans.
They deserve the same place at the American table as any other non- LGBT American. They are due the rights and respect and protection under the law that their OWN forefathers spilled their blood and died for.
It is every American's sovereign inheritance that the bill of rights and constitution provide. Scores of LGBT serve and have served in the military bravely honorable and have died to pay the price so WE ALLI can enjoy the freedoms we enjoy.

From your response you want LGBT children and adults to be eliminated? What is your plan? What to do with all those homosexuals? Round um up give them a state? How would that work exactly and who would design your women folks clothes and do their hair? ... or run a multinational companies or teach children or take care of nursing home bound parents or give a child a life saving operation or create the next break through in treating cancer... the list can go on and on... Open YOUR EYES your will see TONS of LBGT people. They already showing love and humanity in every sector of life. I can not understand why they do not deserve the same in return.

What the heck is the gay agenda? Where do you people get this rubbish. It is like pre WWII Germany people falling lock-step with a party line and do not think for themselves. The Religious Right masterfully Markets these terms and then they are perpetuated by the commercial for profit based media. You buy this propaganda like a box of your favorite soap!
It should be all Americans agenda to follow the Bill of Rights and Constitution... Equal protection under the law.... the pursuit of happiness... Freedom from RELIGIOUS Persecution. That is what America is... you do not get to have your happiness at the cost of someone else's. Some folks hide behind what they THINK God wants or says. How can you be that sure when the doctrine you use has been that has crafted and re-crafted many times over to fit those who seek to control their contributors. How can you believe some parts of this doctrine and others part where you fall short you ignore. pointing the finger at someone else means you are pointing 4 back at yourself. If your heaven is full of bigots and hate mongers I rather spend eternity in an all loving peaceful environment else where.
