FLINT, Mich. (CBS/AP) Police say 4-year-old Dominick Calhoun was beaten for days as a punishment for urinating on himself before his dead body was discovered Sunday.

Sheriff Robert Pickell says the case "goes beyond torture."

Brandon Hayes, the boyfriend of the boy's mother, was arraigned Thursday on charges of felony murder, child abuse and other crimes.

Dominick was taken off life support Monday, a day after he was removed from the floor of an apartment in Argentine Township, south of Flint, Mich.

The sheriff says the beatings began a week ago, April 8.

Dominick's mother, Corrine Baker, tells TV station WEYI she was aware of the beatings but claims Hayes wouldn't let her out of the apartment to get help.

We need to stop worring about "not getting involed" and start saving theese kids! This is one sorry excuse for a mother, because if this had happened to me I would have died to protect my child. Kill quick. Better yet, put both of them in the general population of the jail...! But, they will be put in isolation to "protect them". What a crock of ....!
