She was at the Moon Palace Hotel in Cancun, Mexico with her husband and their two children. She left Monday to go shopping but never returned.

Carla Burgos, her sister, said Mexican police have finally started to investigate.

"We're really lost. It's like a really big mystery," Burgos told CBS affiliate KCAL.

Bruce Beresford-Redman spoke to KCAL by phone Wednesday, but couldn't say much because he was hoping to keep the phone lines clear.

"I'm very hopeful someone will find my wife very soon. She still hasn't been located and we're looking," he told the station.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirms they have a missing person's report and have notified the U.S. State Department and Embassy in Cancun.

In the meantime, family members said they are pleading for the public's help in this case asking anyone with information to come forward.

Monica Beresford-Redman was set to return Thursday, which would have been her birthday.

Everything is so obvious!!! It's just so obvious that this satan named Bruce killed his wife. Now, thanks to his bribes, his drinking margaritas in Cancun as he waits for his hooker (who also should be in jail)arrive and enjoy Monica's life insurance. He really planned this murder very well, that's why they went to Mexico (the bribing country). Scratches on his neck, witnesses who saw them fight on Monday night... umbelievable! Only Mexicans would release a case like this. But what most bothers me is that his parents are going to take care of the kids. His sister should take care of the kids not people that raised a murder. All I'm doing now is ask god to illuminate the American justice to give custody to her sister.

Why do these women believe that there can be a reconciliation, how many times have we seen this. They continue to go back, which a lot of times is not the answer. It is a horrible thing to happen, especially when the children were on that trip. There was another such case not long ago in the US, the wife asked her lawyer should she go away for the weekend with her husband and children. The wife was found in the water off a wharf and he murdered her. The children were back at the hotel. He just got her away from them on her own and thought he would get away with it. It happens over and over again. This just eliminating a wife or husband has got to stop, it is pathetic that these men cannot work things out. Walk away, if you don't want the marriage, get a divorce. But murder the mother or your children. Women have to be more vigilant of their safety from the stranger beside them.
