Constance McMillen faces Facebook Backlash as her Classmates Ridicule her Online

JACKSON, Miss. (CBS) Apparently humiliating Constance McMillen, the lesbian teen who wanted to take her girlfriend to the prom, by sending her to a decoy prom while her classmates partied elsewhere, wasn't enough for some of her fellow students. Irate over having their original prom canceled - and blaming Constance - they started a facebook page called "Constance quit yer cryin."

While many of the early posts have been pulled by their authors, a few websites seem to have been able to grab them before they disappeared. The first post reportedly read "Seriously, you've pretty much eff'd up your fellow classmate's best memory of High School."

Another post defends the phony prom, saying the students were exercising their free expression rights and wanted a "drama-free" prom "without the main cause" of said drama. The poster also wrote that the majority of the student body felt McMillan had "thrown the school board under the bus."

The page has since been taken over by Constance's supporters, who have flooded the wall with supportive posts chastising the page's creators, and some of the early commenters.

But hate is hate, and some of Constance's "supporters" seem to be perpetrating the kind of hateful speech and sentiments they showed up to condemn. One message reads, "The fact that this group exists is the reason I support abortion." Other messages apparently included death threats.

Ah, the Internet, bringing out the best in everyone!

But one of Constance's cooler-headed supporters posted a message Constance reportedly posted on her personal page in response to the backlash against her classmates: "I just want the negativity to stop because I try to be respectful and positive...please tell all you friends to get the word out."

McMillen seems to understand that this kind of backlash against the backlash against the backlash is a self-defeating enterprise.

From that perspective, lesbian sex is the most diverse sexuality you can imagine. So your oral sex comment only shows how little you know about what women actually do in bed together. by bbb2010 April 9, 2010 9:14 PM EDT: Homosexuality is not only common in nature, but it is not hurtful to anyone like pedophelia or murder is. Gay sex acts occur between CONSENTING ADULTS, and this is not the case with pedophiles (kids are not adults) and murder (usually victim is not consenting). That is a HUGE DIFFERENCE, so stop the irrational thinking. Homosexuality has been misunderstood for a long time but now we know better, so stop the middle ages thinking for once. I also read that you made your handicapped students go to the fake prom as well. I hope that the school district loses its ass in court for its blatantly hateful and discriminatory behavior against GLBT people. Your town disgusts me. If there were any justice your town would be over run by GLBT people marching in the streets. Trust me I used to live about a half hours drive from Fulton and the amount of "cool people" is really lacking. As for these students that are ridiculing her they should be very ashamed of themselves. I can see karma coming back in the form of a gay person giving them a job interview.

Well I know people who are gay that been with their partner for over 50 years. I had a heterosexual boss where I worked, who wasn?t even 26, that was on his fourth wife. Then you have Tiger Woods and his faithfulness. You have Brittany Spears, that most heterosexual men drool/lust over, who had a marriage last for less than 40 hours. Who needs gays to blame, when you have the heterosexuals that mess up their own lives pretty well all by themselves. I bet you can name at least 4 heterosexual guys from your collage days who were, (let?s put this sensitively as possible), servicing at least 12 to 15 girls a week, while the gay guy in your dorm never played around. OH, you say there wasn?t any gay guy in your dorm. I bet you there was. You just didn?t know about it.
If you?re going to into some holly codes about someone life style; you need to remember that the holly codes says your damn to hell for eating shrimp or lobster, it?s ok to sell your daughter into slavery, and you can kill your kid for disagreeing with you, and it?s OK for a dad to sleep with your daughter in a emergency (ever hear of Lot?), and if you look at another women who is not your wife you should be stoned with rocks until dead. I don?t think most of modern people would agree with any of that. Then again the 13th amendment was passed (1995) almost 100 years after the civil war. I guess not everybody should be called modern.
I realize that people might object to the term ?breeder?, but any life style can be made to sound objectionable using the right words.

Formal affairs usually have dress codes.
The dress code was determined by the school, why?
Because the prom was a school-sponsored event.
Just obey the dress code and you'll be fine.
Take whoever you want to the prom.
If these kids are such haters I'm surprised she wanted to dance with her girlfriend right in front of them all. It seems like they turned against her after she collected her pay and her fame and called them all "backwards hicks". I don't blame them 1 bit for having their own party without her.
