Two Officers Arrested in Connection with Rape and Kidnap of Woman

ONTARIO, Calif. (CBS/AP) Westminster Police Officer Anthony Nicholas Orban swore to protect his community and defend the rights of citizens, but he allegedly failed to uphold that oath. He is accused of abducting a 24-year-old woman from a mall parking lot in Ontario, Calif., forcing her to drive to a commercial complex in Fontana, and raping her at gunpoint.

And police say the 30-year-old Westminster police officer wasn't the only one involved in the attack. His alleged getaway driver was Corrections Officer Jeff Thomas Jelinek, who police say aided the attack by standing by as Orban raped the woman, and then by driving Orban away from the crime scene. Orban, say police, accidentally left his gun behind after the assault.

When the two men arrived back at the mall parking lot, Orban called his wife and told her he had lost his gun, police said. She called Ontario police to report the missing weapon, and officers went to find him.

The rape victim reported the attack to Fontana police, outside of Anaheim. Investigators found the gun and told Ontario officers, who arrested Orban and Jelinek after they gave inconsistent statements, said police.

Orban was booked for investigation of kidnapping, false imprisonment, rape and carjacking. Jelinek was booked for investigation of carjacking and as an accessory to the crime. Bail for each was set at $1 million.

Officials said it did not appear either man identified himself as a police officer.

Ontario police are trying to determine if there are other victims.

by MzHuggles April 11, 2010 5:17 PM EDT: I know one of the accused & was appalled at what happened to this young lady. My prayers go out to her & her family. I have known him for years and was close with him. I sit here and read this comments. Not all law enforcement are like that, I know a lot of law enforcement & you CAN'T judge them all by what other law enforcement do, they are not all bad! All of the facts have not been said. I am not taking side of what these 2 have done. It saddens me to see & hear that this has happened. I do not wish this on any women or their families. Justice will prevail & they will get what they deserve. Look at all the convicts that do not even get convicted of crimes that they have done.; Reply to this comment

And the cop forgot his gun. What a yo-yo, great for the victim, but not for the cop. Once he realized it was missing he calls his wife. This just after he has raped another woman. Guess he knew better than to try and go get the gun because by then the victim no doubt had found it, and if he tried to get it, she would have probably have shot him with his own gun.

One can't help but wonder what this manic was high on when this all took place. What police officer would conciously walk off without his weapon?

Hopefully both of these losers spend a long time in prison for their crimes, and learn just how crime does not pay.

It seems that more and more incidents like this are happening. One has to sincerely wonder how safe they really are when a police officer is around. What is most unfortunate is that many of these crimes that are committed by these bad cops go completely unpunished. Hopefully these two losers get the just punishment that is coming to them.

There are over 6000 unsolved murders ever year in the United States, Who is committing them? Why are they unsolved?
Remember the "POLICE WANT MORE POWER OVER YOUR LIFE" they want to punish you, without you having a trial, before a judge and jury.

by luckofaladybug April 6, 2010 10:16 PM EDT: The problem is: They think they are above the law, & the unfortunate truth is that they are in most cases. My brother was asaulted and killed by 2 cops, then shoved into a cell with another prisoner whom had multiple felony charges against him. They convinced the man to plea bargain for a drasticly reduced sentence by admitting to second degree manslaughter to have his other 6 felony charges dropped. Of course his plea of guilty took them completely off the hook and they got away with murder. My brothers autopsy report proved that he was struck with a heavy blunt object. "My oppinion was a night stick or flash light." The prisoner they locked him in with had no such objects to hit him with. It broke his jaw bone and shoved it into his artery causing instant brain hemmorhage resulting in his death. Everyone knew the cops were guilty but they were never charged or even suspended from duty. The other man did 2 years and is out free. One of his charges was raping and assaulting his 9 year old son.
