Topless Women Walk Through Portland (CBS/WGME)

PORTLAND, Maine (CBS/WGME/AP) Some people's jaws hit the ground, plenty of men showed up with cameras, and others - including parents with their children - were just plain offended, as almost two dozen topless women marched in Maine's largest city.

The women drew a crowd of over 500 onlookers when they shed their shirts and marched in downtown Portland on Saturday to promote what they call "equal-opportunity public toplessness."

Organizer Ty MacDowell said the point of the march was that a topless woman out in public shouldn't attract any more attention than a man who walks around without a shirt.

Good luck with that.

According to The Portland Press Herald, by the end of the march more than 500 people had amassed - a mix of marchers, young men snapping photos, oglers and people just out enjoying a warm sunny day.

"We should be able to walk down the street and not have this many men taking pictures of us," a participant shouted according to CBS affiliate WGME.

It's not illegal for a woman to be topless in public in Maine, although it is illegal in many other states.

Police said there were no incidents or arrests.

And actually, the leftist femi(commu)nist ?womyn? described *do* make a certain dreadful sense.

It's part of "deconstructing" standards and meanings, distorting the reality of human nature and natural law, to the point where what is right and good is whatever *they*, the man-hating femi(commu)nists say it is, and what is wrong and bad is whatever we, the sane American patriots, think, do and say.

Every communist revolution has it's reign of terror to follow, where any potential opposition is cowed into walking on eggshells.

Already heaven help the male co-worker who makes an innocous remark that may somehow be misconstrued.

From Birdyspice: "it's a scientific fact that the female breast, when stimulated, emits a hormone that arouses her causing lubrication, which facilitate sex. a similar physiological reaction has not been found in the male breasts. clearly female breasts are sexual."

If you think stimulating men's breasts doesn't cause a sexual response I feel sorry for you.

Their point might be true if it was an every day occurrence but it is not. If you saw topless women every day then it would no longer be such a big deal. Anyone that has spent any significant amount of time on a European beach knows what I am talking about. Sure, people look, especially if the person is extremely attractive, hell they do that to fully clothed people, but over time it just isn't that big of a deal any more. That said, why? Why would you want to walk around in a public place topless, man or women? A beach is one thing where you may be trying to get some sun but Main St? Yes ladies, I get your point but be realistic. Until people get used to the idea it will be an oddity but in my opinion it doesn't belong on Main St.

Like a lot of women, they dress or, in this case, undress, to provoke and then pretend to be offended when it works. What a bunch of lying, hypocritical biotches!

Women like this try to use equal opportunity as an excuse......Women like this are exhibiitionist who crave attention......nothing more, nothing less. How can these women say they are shocked that they get more attention than a man would walking around topless, as I do not think there is too mcuh that would actually shock these women.

These women are merely EXHIBITIONIST who are dying. Period, plain and simple so I do not know who they think they are trying to kid. Don't forget women, you may fool the men, but you can not fool other women.

Some people just have a real need to be the center of attention....and probaby just like the American Idol wackos which come out from the woodworks who think they have it, are beautiful and can sing...they probably all think they have the most beautiful bodies in the world.

This behavior is truly typical of people with low self esteem and total disrepect for themselves.

Wait ... they believe they have the most beautiful bodies in the world AND they have low self esteem and total disrespect for themselves?
