TRENTON, NJ (CBS/AP) Two men and three teenage boys were charged Saturday in connection to the gang-rape of a 7-year-old girl who was allegedly sold by her 15-year-old stepsister during a sex party, police said.

Details of the arrests were announced at a Saturday evening news conference outside police headquarters. Police Director Irving Bradley said detectives had been working around the clock since the crime was reported March 28.

Those arrested included Gregory Joseph Leary, 20, in custody since last week, when he was charged with having sex with the 15-year-old. The other four are Timear Lewis, 19, and boys ages 13, 14 and 17. Each was charged with aggravated sexual assault and child endangerment.

Prosecutors likely would seek to try all of them as adults, Mercer County prosecutor Joseph Bocchini said.

The case shocked residents of the gritty Rowan Towers apartment building, where three of those arrested live, police Capt. Joseph Juniak said.

Building management has stepped up its security presence there and promised additional safety measures. Residents have expressed skepticism that the apartments would become safer.

Police say the 15-year-old girl went to a party with some men at Rowan Towers on March 28 and the younger girl tagged along because she was worried about her stepsister's safety. They say the 15-year-old sold sex to men and boys there, then took money to let them touch the younger girl. They say the touching turned to forcible sex as at least seven men raped the 7-year-old.

Additional arrests are expected, police said.

Before Saturday's arrest announcement, the 15-year-old had been charged with promoting prostitution, aggravated sexual assault and other crimes. Police have not released her name, and she remained in juvenile detention Saturday night.

Its a sad commentary to human society when a child is raped. But before you bring out the pitch forks and torches, remember not all children are that innocent. Child welfare advocates would have us believe all children are victims of sexual exploitation but ignore the fact many children are very precocious by intention. The awful reality of this can be found not only in Eastern countries but every land and city in the US. Its nothing new either, history is full examples since the dawn of man

I continue to say this story is not that unusual, bad people will be around for ever, but I say lock up the parents where were they.?
you all want to look at the after math, of unwanted children it is obvious when adults or young adults have kids they do not plan, or want, those kids are subject to neglect, abuse, and abandonment, but none of you want to admit that the parents of these kids are to blame, why ? are you just as guilty of abandoning your kids, telling them all the time you love them go play with your PS2, while you practice what ever than wondering why they were abused or worse, hypocrites

Imagine the scars for this 7 year old - let's make sure that the Department of Children Services is involved to make sure she dfoes not go back to a home where she can follow an "evil" 15 year old to a party and no one wonders where she is? There is somewhere in New Jersey a good home that would take care of her and help heal those wounds - children bounce back very quickly with the right kind of love Gd Bless her and dGod will take care of the rest of the scum.

I posted this message on another crime story similar to this in many areas, but don't worry we will stop funding education to provide jail cells, and we will continue to give these many Parents food stamps, rent, and madical so they can have more children so you and I can be responsible for their lives, actions, and learnings I say lock up the parents where were they.?

you can jail this thug, and the woman and girls will continue it is the teachings that we're pushing on our kids that lead to these types of behaviors, the pimp, is merely a user, the females are also users one user plays the victim the other is projected as the bad, but the facts the victims will contiue ot be victims it is part of the entitlement package you are rewarded if you can blame someone.

As a mother and a member of American society, I am sick to my core with disgust at what has taken place in New Jersey. There are so many to be held accountable. Where are the mothers and fathers of our country? Is this the kind of public we live amongst? The people involved in this case and all of the other cases like this are not worthy of being called people. They are not even worthy of being animals. What kind of so called human could hurt an innocent child this way. If America held a no tolerance punishment for these types of crimes, there may be far fewer of them. I'm not sure of the right punishment but it shouldn't consist of daily meals and a bed to sleep on...I'm thinking slave labor and severe beatings daily for the rest of what should be their short lived lives. Every person should get involved and protect our children, who are our future. I will continue to pray for the children of our world as a non religious, spiritual being. May light and love heal this childs' heart and spirit.

PUT THEM ALL IN PRISON FOR THE REST OF THEIR ROTTEN, MISERABLE LIVES..INCLUDING THE 15 YR OLD SISTER. OR BETTER YET...TURN THEM OVER TO SOME WHITE MILITIA GROUPS THAT TEND TO HATE MINORITIES!! i HOPE YOU ALL SPEND MANY YEARS IN JAIL ON ALL FOURS AND SUFFER HORRIBLE, I MEAN TRULY HORRIBLE MEANS OF PUNISHMENT. i ALSO THINK THEIR PARENTS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AS WELL..WHEREE WERE THEY DOING ALL THIS? ONE THING IVE LEANED IS THAT THE APPLE RARELY FALLS FAR FROM THE TREE!!!
