Wal-Mart

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS/AP) Black shoppers in a Wal-Mart in southern New Jersey were asked a favor from a male voice on an intercom Sunday night.

"Attention Wal-Mart customers: All black people leave the store now," the voice calmly announced to the entire store.

Officials of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. are reviewing security tapes trying to determine who used the store's public-address system to make the offensive announcement.

Company spokeswoman Ashley Hardie says the incident was "unacceptable."

Witnesses told the Courier-Post newspaper that customers and store employees looked stunned. Management later apologized.

Washington Township police and the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office also are investigating.

First and foremost, as a 34 year old black man, I feel that that other black men and women should move on about slavery period! Even though blacks went through hell for 400 years, we survived it. Also, people need to understand that crying wolf will not get you no where!

Also, I am tired of hearing this song of victim hood and people owe you something. I believe that you have choices in your life. If you choose to live poor, then face the consequences of being poor. Despite, what happened back then, blacks who wanted a better life for themselves and others, did not sit around and whine and ***** about it. They went out and raised hell to make change happen, even if they lost their lives. If the people who fought and died for freedom came back and seen what the black race was doing today, it would be a mixed bag. They would be proud of the ones who are doing good, and cussing out the ones who make the black race as a whole look bad.

To end, I was raised up in a household that believed that EDUCATION was the key to get out of poverty, not depending on welfare for a living, but on a emergency basis until you get on your feet again. And not blaming other people for your poor choices in your life.

The 50's, 60's, 70's and the 80's and beyond are OVER! I do not do the "black power" tribalism at all. It is an embarrassment to me and other black men and women. It shows the world that blacks are not capable of getting along with others. And it is racist. Yes, you can be racist and black, even though you may not have majority rule, but your actions, thoughts, and your environment plays a big role.

To end, it is time to move forward as a nation. Learn from the past, and not live in it, change what's in the present, and move forward into the future, to make sure that the next generation do not repeat the same mistakes as the previous one did.

Honestly, people. This comes down to the actions of an individual that offended millions. It is a shame that racism still exists in this country, from all directions. This should not be a pissing contest over which group gets hated more. The statement made over the PA system was regrettable, and incredibly ignorant, but it was simply a person illegally commandeering wal-mart equipment to express his constitutionally protected opinion. the most he can be prosecuted for is trespassing. back to my earlier point, we can only truly say racism is dead when people no longer care what color a person is. the whole country rejoiced when we elected a black president. why? he was the right candidate? they rejoiced because he was black. to all: if you want to stop racism in others, work hard to erase the things that reinforce racial stereotypes, stop caring what race/gender/religion/sexuality/etc... that people are. they are people. enough said. LEAVE IT AT THAT. THAT is how we can all get along. quit pissing in the wind, and start fixing the problem in yourself. we all do that, we all succeed. you can't fix someone else, but you can fix yourself, and help set examples to lead others. if i can see all manners of people working together to save a naval ship, side by side, of all creeds and colors, then the rest of the world can do it to.

Maybe they were about to hold a Teabaggers' meeting.
___________

I think you meant a Health-Bagger meeting.

to see who can be bribed, while the minorities are absent.

Also, "white" is not the same as "Russian", "Russian" is not the same as "French", and "Chinese" is not the same as "Japanese".

Actually they are, the same...since there are only a few select "races of humans" they would fall either in Caucasoid (White), Negroid (Black) or Mongoloid (Asian)....take your pick, (races are different then sub-races, IE: hispanic, japanese, etc.)

I agree not all "white" people had anything to do with slavery My skin is as white as any I am Irish and if we were as big of crybabies as black or brown people there would be he** to pay. But guess what it wasn't me that got mistreated it was my ancestors most people don't even know what I am talking about but the blacks had it easy compared to hundreds of years worth of stealing our land in Ireland, beating and raping out women, we weren't even classified as humans and many more cruel racist things to many to list. When my ancestors finally did come here to america we were instantly recruted into the military and they would more likely give a jobs to blacks the irish were lower then blacks we are just not a bunch of crybabies. They used to say a Mic (Irishman) will do for a nickle what a ni**er (black) will do for a dime and a white man used to get a quarter for. even to further prove my point I am allowed to write on this board Mic but they won't allow the N word sounds pretty prejudist to me should I start crying about it nobody listens anyway so shut the uck up! whoo! glad to get some of that of my chest.

True, but many white people did have something to do with it and it had a negative effect on the Black community. Just realize that. You're white, you hide the fact that you're Irish because of the color of your skin. If you're Black, you can't. The instant you Black person instant stereotypes come to some people's mind. So I'm sorry you can't compare your Irish experiences to the Black person experience when we've been haunted by over 400 years of our ancestor's been enlsaved and several decades of overt racism and and a couple decades of underhanded racism. And wish would try to make me shut up...I wish you would :-/. Try it...now I'm gonna put it back on your chest. Whoo on that one! We gon' keep on and until we are healed as a people. Now what!

UhHuh3 - You are showing your hypocrisy. You don't care about other peoples misfortune but we should still all care about yours (more accurately your ancestors and not actually you)??? And who are you to dismiss someone elses history? We can all forget about the things the Jews, the Irish, Cambodians, etc... went through - it's ok UhHuh3 said it's all forgotten. He is a fool that is full of pity for himself and if he really wanted to start healing he would stop blaming everyone around and look at himself. you control your own destiny and if you choose to do nothing but cry about the past you will never amount to anything. Oh, and I realize I make grammar mistakes but damn maybe you should have payed more attention in English class.
