Bailout Blues Don't Stop Exec Jet-Setting

(CBS/iStockphoto)
It seems some bank executives aren't letting the government's bailout money get in the way of their good time.

The Wall Street Journal reports that top officials at some banks on the government dole retained their personal use of corporate jets, with records showing destinations that are near vacation homes and luxury resorts.

The news comes as the Obama administration sets out to limit the excessive perks and payouts that helped Wall Street lose its grip and send the U.S. economy into a spiral.

I get so sick of these CEO's..AIG.. The banks, Wall street, and all the other people that were bailed out. I guess we should have let them all fall and live like the rest of us. Nothing changed for them, while the rest of people lost their life savings and homes, and have hard times. Also, All these damn people on talk shows like Martha, Oprah, stop trying to tell people how to cut back during recession.
We are not all in this together, since when do you have to worry about it. Some already have been living a simple life and we can't cut back on anymore. We have been taxed to death. The do gooders who only want to be in the news for their 15 minute fame, like Movie Stars who adopt kids from other countries, don't you have enough money to buy or adopt an American child who needs a home?
What did the tax payer get? He got 25.00 or was it 50.00 added on his check and then got a reduction in wages by having his hours cut or even lost his job. Great if you lost your jobs, you don't get it. if you can't get unemployment, you don't get it. The people who got taxpayers money get big bonus money and spas and bailed out..No shame in your game.
If you have to fly take a damn jet, and get your first Class ticket of course, through the airlines.
The Big American corporations: Unfeeling, uncaring, except for profits and greed and they must own both parties in Government.Seems to me they are a bunch of crooks who belong in prison instead of flying anywhere, along with some of those in government.Everyday we have to hear about another crook and frankly Mainstreet could have done alot more good by receiving money then any of these educated fools.

I say if they want to have their private jets, excessive wealth, and executive perks I say fine. If they want to buy judges, politicians, and have sweet back room deals thats fine too. As long as we the American people can dip into your bank account to pay our bills too I see no problem with any of the
above. I am not saying we should be more like Ecuador and Venezuela but if we are I am fine with that too.

Since it is taxpayer's money that is supporting these financial institutions, they should show all flight departures and destinations online at least 12 hours in advance to allow ordinary citizens to share, without charge, the unoccupied seats, food and drink.

Paulson forced these banks to take the TARP money under Bush in 08. Some didn't need it or want it. Now they are lining up to give it back as fast as they can. You can't blame them with populist baiting stories like this, and the govt. heavy hand in GM and Chrysler. Let's just hope the banking industry is (allowed) to give back the money and doesn't become a part of the govt.

TARP was used to shore up the BIG FAILED BANKS, like Goldman Sucks, that had trillions of 'toxic assts' or absolutely worthless derivatives and credit-default swaps.

The banks that you are praising because they 'appear' to want give TARP back are lying to you; they're suckering you into thinking that there's no more problem with the trillions of worthless derivatives still on their books.

It's so you can be a sucker to buy more of their stocks and stick their shares back into what's left of your pension funds and 401ks.

Geez, why not pry into the lives of these executives and whine about how they're still living in their mansions. Come to think of it, the Obamas still maintain their mansion in Chicago's tony Hyde Park Area. And, they fly around in private airlines, paid for by taxpayers, to of all things, sophomoric date nights, while many citizens have trouble paying for food. Nice example Obama. And, the Obama-loving media conveniently turns a blind eye to this extravagance and utter folly and is content with pouncing on wealthy jet-setters. So much for the double standard.

President Barack Obama got over $350 billions of TARP monies left by GW? He should have given that back to the average taxpayers to spend on the ecomony, that came to $1,200.00 per taxpayer! That would have help the ecomony more than giving it to wealthy financial CEOs and Wall Street miilionaires? What a LOSER this President Obama has become?

Flying has become more than an ordeal for most Americans. But not for the rich and powerful. Not only is the bailout subsidizing these CEOs and their jets but so are your airline tickets and the tax write-offs that they use to buy the jets.
