It appears that GM had already come up with their own bankruptcy plan. Are there any UAW's in China.

If the President were to push for "Buy American," loud and forcefully, that very act would turn around this countries doomed economic crisis in short order.

Buy American is a nice sentiment, but they are also meaningless words since "American" often means a corporate presence in the United States and manufacturing facilities located in Mexico and China. This is exactly why a US stimulus plan that involves consumer spending usually ends up spurring job growth in someone elses economy.

I agree with you though, the politicians, corporate leaders and Wallstreet have sold out the country and their fellow citizens for a few pieces of silver.

Folks just don't seem to understand that our leaders, including the president, have sold us out to multinational corporations without a patriotic bone between all of them.

If the President were to push for "Buy American," loud and forcefully, that very act would turn around this countries doomed economic crisis in short order.

Where is the patriotism from our leaders?

Where is the call to buy American and fill American coffers with wealth instead of lining the pockets of some foreign countries bank account?

And if the American people finally got it through their thick skulls that the bargains at toyota and wal-mart are killing our country and sending our wealth and jobs overseas, they'd be less interested in saving a few bucks today only to lose their jobs tomorrow.

Wake up America, buy American, save you and your families and your friends and your neighbors jobs.

Do it not and watch America sink to 3rd world status with only ourselves to blame.

I could write a book: "Watch while America shoots itself in the foot and bleeds to death, but we saved 4 bucks and 12 cents doing it."

Obama's own idea is back firing on him.

Eligibility debate explodes on White House 'dialogue' site
74% of voters demand Obama release long-form birth certificate

The entire transparency portion of the White House website on "open government dialogue" has been overrun with citizens calling on Barack Obama to release his elusive "long-form" birth certificate to establish his constitutional eligibility to serve as president.

The link to this website, which again, was Obama's idea, is here:

You can do a lot with the 1/4 BILLION dollars that they pay their fatcat executives. At least the UAW contributes to the local economy. A 25 million dollar house on Palm Beach doesn't do anyone in Detroit, Cleveland, or Pontiac any good!

Do you really think that a CEO making 200 million dollars a year is THAT much better than someone you could get for a paltry 1 million dollars a year????

Kick the bums out and PUT A GENERAL IN CHARGE OF GENERAL MMOTORS!!!!

politics has nothing to do with building substandard, overpriced vehicles.

Too big to fail, that was the mantra months ago. Well they have failed. Now they will have to build small cars that no one wants. Then the price of gas will go to $10 a gallon and then the cars will sell. How will they plow snow, how will they tow a trailer or anything else. They won't. You will be buying a mobile coffin. Glad that Robin Hood is so great. Taking from those of us who have and giving it to the unions first, the supplier and other people later. The unions own the company now and it will go down the tubes as fast as can be. They will still be sleeping in carboard boxes while getting paid like in the past. Nothing will change. Only thing will happen is the billions we have already poured in and a few more billion yet to go down the drain. We got 50 billion in so far, and another 50 billion to come and after that more billions. Amtrack, Postal Service, two of the great government servicers running so well. Government motors will be just like Amtrack.

I have owned only GM or Ford cars since I was old enough to drive. They have always been reliable and dependable. I have drove half way across America and back in my '99 Ford without a hitch. Although I remember my friend's Toyota breaking down on a similar trip. Anyways, if you buy import cars because you bought into the hype then you are a fool and un-American. The foreigners sold you a lie not a better car, and now we will all pay for it. Their is NO good reason not to buy American, unless you're not American.
