Samsung: Don't Watch 3D TV While You're Drunk

Samsung Series 7

/ Samsung.com
Mothers have been warning about TV for as long as children have been watching it: too much will rot your brain; sit too close and you'll ruin your eyes.

Now, with 3D television technology on its way, the warnings are coming from TV manufacturers.

Samsung, one of several companies rolling out a line of 3D TVs, has issued a lengthy health warning for 3D viewers.

CNET: 3D TV Resource Guide

According to Samsung, children and teenagers may be more at risk to health issues related to 3D viewing. Those with family history of epilepsy or strokes are warned that exposure to flashing lights may cause seizures.

Who else should avoid watching television in 3D? Pregnant women, the elderly, the sleep-deprived, those suffering from serious medical conditions and anyone under the influence of alcohol.

Samsung also warned people to stop watching 3D if they experience any of the following symptoms:

- altered vision

- lightheadedness

- dizziness

- involuntary movements such as eye or muscle twitching

- confusion

- nausea

- convulsions

- cramps

- disorientation

And for the record, Samsung and Mom are on the same page - "Watching TV while sitting too close to the screen for an extended period of time may damage your eyesight."

Yuck, who needs TV with side effects? It's nauseating enough as it is. Besides, if I can't get drunk before watching, it takes all of the entertainment value out of it.

Try smoking a joint instead. Much more entertaining. Or at least that is what I have heard. : )

I really appreciate the 'butterfly' graphic at the top of the story. I remember teasing intoxicated people to, "Look at the butterflies."

Seriously, I believe most of the comments are accurate. People will begin swinging at objects projected, hitting their fellow viewers and causing 'domestic disturbances.'

Let us look back, ten years from now, and see what this brings us!

I'm waiting to see the story where someone literally runs into their TV while high thinking they can cross over into another reality. I bet you will see it within 3 months from now.

Really!

There is a reason they put all those warnings out. things like not operating a hair dryer while in the shower. It is because people have tried them and got hurt.
