Farouk Shami is on Fire: Campaign Spot of the Year?
It's primary day in Texas, and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Farouk Shami -- who is widely expected to lose to former Houston mayor Bill White -- has released a last-minute campaign song presumably designed to win the youth vote.
The auto-tuned song, "Farouk," features hip-hop artist J. Xavier, and it "outlines Farouk's new solutions for Texas, including creating jobs and reforming the education system so it looks out for all Texas children," as Shami's Web site puts it. (You can download the MP3 there.)
Here's the chorus of the song, via the Texas Tribune: "Who's got the new solutions for Texas: FAROUK/When it comes to the state, who's gone rep it: FAROUK/Farouk Farouk, Farouk is on fi-ah/Serving the community, his numba one desiah."
Listen above. The spot would be the undisputed champion in the category of "insane political ads of 2010" were it not for the amazing demon sheep video put out by California Senate candidate's Carly Fiorina a month ago.
Your move, Fiorina.

3 million so he paid 5.80 dollars per voter. Dr. Alma Ludivina Aguado The Mexican american who was excluded from the democratic debate gain 19,415 votes and spent 4000.00 in her campaign she paid .20 cents per voter. Election was manipulated, noticeable discrimination! and Bill White got all the credit.
Probable that was one reason Mexican Compadre Carlos Slim was descouraged no to buy media New York Times.
There would probably be idiots who would vote for it!!!
He wants to ?open? the border with Mexico saying nobody is ?illegal"and says he guarentees jobs for every Texan, (or he?ll resign from office). Only thing missing is a chicken in every pot.
He is already using the race card against Bill White, his democratic opponent who has a stellar record as mayor of Houston.
Shami really needs to go back to doing perms at one of his salons. Honest to god, he is really one that is an out-of-touch joke...
Most "Mexicans" were here before there was an America, (the ignorant Europeans called them "Indians") and as indigenous people, the right of free passage backs up his claim of legal status.
"Article III of the Jay Treaty declared the right of "Indians" ("Native Americans" in current parlance) as well as of US and Canadian citizens to trade and travel between the United States and Canada, which was then a territory of Great Britain. American Consular Services in Canada states that as a result of the Jay Treaty "Native Indians born in Canada are therefore entitled to enter the United States for the purpose of employment, study, retirement, investing, and/or immigration". The treaty was signed in November 1794, but was not proclaimed to be in effect until February 29, 1796.
As for the "race card" you are clearly using it against him, so he also has the right to use it. Quit dealing it, and it won't be there to be played.
That you choose not to recognize a law does not render the law invalid.
Seems you are the out-of-touch joke in this instance.
