Barbara Mikulski Is Not Retiring, Democrat Says

Following the surprise retirement of Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh yesterday, there has been speculation surrounding whether there could be more Democratic retirements on the horizon.

And this report on a conservative blog, "The Vail Spot," centered Internet attention on whether Democratic Sen. Barbara Mikulski of Maryland, at left, could be next.

But a spokesman for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) told CBS News Capitol Hill producer Jill Jackson that it's not true.


"She's moving full steam ahead," said DSCC spokesman Eric Schultz.
