Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney was attacked on a flight departing from Vancouver Monday morning, according to reports.

Romney and his wife Ann Romney were sitting in the economy section of an Air Canada flight to Los Angeles after attending the Olympic Games when a man seated in front of them became "physically violent," the Globe and Mail first reported. Romney asked the man to raise his seat for takeoff, after which the man reportedly tried to strike him.

Romney did not retaliate but instead let the airline crew respond, his spokesperson told the Globe and Mail. The violent passenger and his bags were reportedly removed from the flight.

The former Massachusetts governor and his wife were guests of honor at the Vancouver games. He served as president and CEO of the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City.

You gotta think that maybe there is some justice in this world. The GOP has not just become the enemy of We the People here but also all over the world. When are the trials starting for the Bushoccio Crime Family? Maybe we will get to try the entire party for complicity in their crimes.

Mitt made many enemies on his last run for president. Many of them will never forgive him.

"Mitt opened his mouth when he shouldn't have. Flight crews enforce policies, not other passengers, Mitt. "

It's not just a policy it's a safety issue. I'd have spoken up also instead of passively sitting there ignoring something who is endangering himself and his fellow travelers by not following safety guidelines that have been in effect for decades.

I'm not a fan of people who sit there with the attitude "not my job". This is particularly true when lives are at stake.

Did anyone hear about the man on another flight, who was tackled for asking to sit near the cockpit? I can see the suspicion and how it would cause the chaos.

The rule went into effect in the mid 60s shortly after I had reported an incident involving two men across from me in the first class section--the plane was moving to the take off position and the flight attendant cuold not leave her seat. First class seats present the same problem.

"The violent passenger and his bags were reportedly removed from the flight."

Was the guy arrested and charged ?

A commercial flight is about the last place you want to be getting violent. That was viewed very gravely even before 9/11.

People have been sentenced to some serious prison time for doing things on planes that might draw just a heavy fine if they were done on a bus.

Don't get violent on airliners. Just relax and enjoy your flight.
