George H.W. Bush Backs Kay Bailey Hutchison in Texas

(AP)
Mr. Bush, who appeared with wife Barbara at his home, said Hutchison had shown herself to be an "effective leader" with a "loyal dedication to the Republican party."
"She was a Lone Star Republican before it was cool to be a Republican in Texas," he said, going on to laud Hutchison's vision and values.
According to the Houston Chronicle, Hutchison said she was "humbled" by the endorsement and noted her longstanding relationship with the Bush family, which dates back to her time as a reporter in Houston in the 1960s.
Mr. Bush campaigned for Perry when Perry was a candidate for lieutenant governor.
