Obama Plan: Cut Emissions 17% by 2020

(AP Photo )
Officials say President Obama will put forward a plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the United States in the range of 17 percent below 2005 levels by 2020 during the Copenhagen Climate Talks in December.

They say this reflects Mr. Obama's broader commitment to reduce emissions by 83 percent by 2050 in interim steps as follows:

• 30 percent below 2005 levels in 2025
• 42 percent below 2005 levels in 2030

These numbers are similar to the bills pending in both House and Senate.

White House climate change adviser Carol Browner says the Congressional Budget Office has scored the economic impact of these reductions at $173 a year per family of four in 2020.

We must prepare now for the enslaving carbon tax! Or we must not believe their agenda, and oppose these lies and propaganda. If there is to be a tax, tax only the big companies who have been taking advantage of everything since the dark ages and the control of the people and retaining the power in a handful of deviants with soothsayer media.

I think this goal is quite admirable. America needs to be taking the lead in 21st and 22nd century technologies instead of embracing those of the 20th century. We used to be proud to lead the world in science; but now many rejoice in anti-science fallacies. We would rather protect a dying industry than reinvent the industry. We are lsoing our leadership and will find it increasingly impossible to regain the lead. Europe and the Far East are rapidly outpacing America as their societies embrace the future instead of being afraid of it.

afmcalax: the carbon "problem" is a sham. Do you remember learning in grade school and in the ensuing years that when animal life exhales CO2 plants take it up and create OXYGEN? Carbon dioxide is vital for plant life and our world depends on plant life for so much. The post by Missinfosniffer is right on. I hope that by now you are aware of "ClimateGate" and the appalling lies told by all involved, especially Al Gore.
