New Obama ad says Romney is attacking workers

(CBS News) In a new campaign ad, the Obama campaign is continuing its attacks on Mitt Romney over comments he made about the "47 percent" of Americans he said think of themselves as "victims," as well as over Romney's own effective tax rate.

The ad, called "Fair Share," will air in the battleground states of New Hampshire, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Ohio, Iowa, Colorado, and Nevada starting Tuesday.

In it, the president's re-election campaign accuses Romney of "attacking folks who work for a living" while pointing out that "Romney paid just 14 percent in taxes last year on over 13 million in income - almost all from investments."

"When Mitt Romney dismissed 47 percent of Americans for not pulling their weight, he attacked millions of hard working people making 25, 35, 45 thousand dollars a year," says a narrator in the ad. "They pay social security taxes. State taxes. Local taxes. Gas, sales, and property taxes."

"Shouldn't we stand up for them?" the ad asks.

The ad features footage from a leaked video of controversial comments Mitt Romney made at a fundraiser this year, in which he described the majority of President Obama's supporters as people who are "dependent on government" and "believe that they are victims."

Last Friday, Romney released his full 2011 tax returns, which showed that he and his wife paid $1,935,708 that year on $13,696,951 of income - a 14.1 percent tax rate.

In a statement responding to the ad, the Romney campaign accused the president of implementing policies that "have devastated the middle class."

"His tax increases on middle-class families and small businesses will only make things worse," said Romney spokesperson Amanda Henneberg. "Mitt Romney will help middle-class families by lowering tax rates across the board, spurring growth and investment, creating 12 million jobs, and finally getting this country on the right track again."

The Dems never put the Kennedy's down for being RICH!!! They were known for dealing and understanding the poor! Obama would make a terrific used car salesman capable of selling the worse clunker on the lot, and oceanfront property in Arizona. Just because he says something doesn't make it true. Obama is rich! His girls go to a private school with a $35,000.00 a year tuition. Prior 1st Ladies all had ONE personal assistant on the government payroll but michelle obama has 22 personal assistants there for her every COMMAND! ALL getting paid more than the average American. Most of her assistants are her closest friends costing the American people. The Obama's should be reminded that the economy is not doing great and more than one assistant should be at their expense, NOT OURS! The Obama's feel that they are entitled to more vacations than the average American family. I get one every 3 yrs while they take 17 in the last three years.........at OUR expense!! I believe ONE vacation at OUR expense. Anything more than that should be paid from their personal funds!!! NO......the OBAMA's are no different from the Romneys when it comes to being rich. They don't understand...... rich is rich to a poor person. The only difference is going to be between the rich as to which one is richer! Romney has his own wealth. 1. Here's a kindergarten equivalent to Economics 101:

Less taxes on corporations = more profit = more capital to reinvest = more jobs = more people making income = more income for government to tax. It is a fact that when taxation drops, economy soars!

2. Liberals in my best whiny voice "It's so unfair! Romney pays less taxes than I do"

If you mean less in amount, you are WRONG! If you mean less in percentage, you are still WRONG! Capital gains tax on dividend is income that has already been taxed at approximately 35% as a corporate tax.

So, the money earned by the corporation (corporation = owners in form of shareholders) has been taxed. What is left over after taxes is then paid out to its shareholders in the form of dividends which is taxed again. Comprende?

THESE ARE UNDISPUTABLE FACTS!

Therefore, Obama ads and those claiming Romney has not paid his "fair share" are either distorting facts or cognitively challenged? Which is it?

Shelly, Shelly....wow your far right. Romney had overseas bank accounts to avoid taxes, which those tax dollars would have helped this country. His company Bain bought companies on verge of bankruptcy then laying all those folks off to gain tax breaks. Not to mention outsourcing jobs overseas!!!...that is what that man did, proven! Is tahat american? Nit in my world! I agree with the other comment, Reagan was one of the worst president s we've seen. He gave MAJOR tax breaks for the top 2%, right? Well guess what else he did to compensate for those breaks. He taxed unemployment! So in a sense he took from the poor and gave to the rich, right? When people need the money most, being laid off, they had to pay the government! And the sad thing abouth it, companies who laid these folks off paid the people they laid off, that money came from the company. That money didnt come from the government yet Reagan decided to tax the people hurting?? Are you kidding me? I was laid off in 2008 because of the Bush debacle and collected unemployment for 18 months because I coudldnt find a job in my field, the housing industry. I had unemployment take out the 10% max off the top. 2 years later I was hit for another $1075 for back taxes because supposedly I didnt poy enough in 2008. Thanks Reagan. Now last week I recieved another bill in the mail from my state that I owe another $575 for that 2008 year! Are you kidding me????....I am 51 and always worked and done the right thing. I now have a job making $14 per hour... I cannot afford this kinda hit and I am sick and tired of people feeling sorry for the multi millionaires...Crazy!!!!!!!

Romney, and the GOP as a whole have been trying to bust all the unions.
They are seeking to lower wages below current levels in spite of wages being at an all time low when compared to profits. The GOP has sided with the wealthy, corporations and the Koch brothers who all want to lower wages to improve their profits. They have no consideration for their actions, and have abandoned everyone else.
The GOP doesn't represent all Americans, only the wealthy, that's why they should not represent even one person. They work for all of the American people, who pay their wages. By only representing the 1% they have violated the terms of office, and need to be replaced. We need to remove them from office by voting someone else into the offices that they currently hold.
By the way, voting the GOP out will stop the do nothing congress, from being a do nothing congress. They have taken our tax dollars for work they did not do, in fact they opposed any and all attempts to get the economy growing again, getting people back at jobs, and prevent another financial meltdown, and a new recession that will be a full blown depression. We need a congress that will work for all Americans, not just the few. Join me as I vote against every republican on my ballot.

What is more shocking is that it is possible to write off half the country and still get elected in America! Because of the political duopoly and the blind faith of GOP followers. Plus the GOP's efforts to disenfranchise many Americans; a fraudulent attempt to prevent "fraud".

America needs Obama. It is actually Obama's footprints that remain at the RNC; and it is Obama who will move America Forward and rebuild the nation.

If the owners would pay better wages, the workers would be paying federal income tax. The sadistic irony is they don't pay the wages to they don't pay the taxes, then the owners call them dependent freeloaders.

We saw the whole low wage losing manufacturing wave coming in the mid 70s and no one had a solution. More than 35 years later we still don't have a solution, but lots of hot air had been vented.

The Republicans have never attacked me as a worker like the Democrats have taxing me to death to pay for their social entiltlement programs for freeloaders and moochers like welfare, food stamps, free health care, the public schools to pay for the top administrators 6 figure salaries, the teachers union, but the classrooms never see that tax money they never seem to have enough of.

The Union is made up of workers. The economy was turned around by the stimulus. It was free falling.
People aren't paid a living wage. Both parents work now of days trying to get by. If minimum wage was adjusted for cost of living it would be $25. It is a long way from there. So, yes, food stamps are needed to feed them. 1 in 6 Americans have a hunger issue. Every classroom in my school has a Smart Board if the teacher requested it. Every teacher was supplied a laptop computer and projector. There is money for remediation to work with students after school hours. There isn't enough money for new books. GE bought the last set of books for the district.

What is wrong with taxes for the wealthy returning to 70% before Reagan came. It was 90% after the depression.

The government may not restict your speech, tell you how to pray. The government may not tell you a lot of things.
Government is a lot better at taking things away than it is at giving. But most of all, it does not empower you. YOU empower the GOVERNMENT!
It is not the job of the government if it follows the Constitution, to take your money and give it back. It is the job of officials to take from citizens only what is needed for essential government to continue to serve the People!
Government servants are supposed to sacrifice for you, not you who sacrifice for Them!
If citizens allow the wrong measure of power to be taken by Government, then the wrong people will take more power than they need and will use it the way they want, not the way YOU want!
