Trump: Obama a "Teflon" president

Donald Trump

/ Isaac Brekken
(CBS News) Donald Trump, the real estate mogul and reality television personality, attacked President Obama Monday as a "Teflon" president, arguing that Mr. Obama benefits from a journalistic bias in his favor.

"You know, he gets the greatest press of anybody that I think I've ever seen," Trump said of the president, speaking at the convocation at Liberty University, a Christian college founded by Jerry Falwell. "You talk about Teflon. I've never seen anything like it. I heard somebody saying the other day that he's an expert on foreign policy. He went over to Cairo, Egypt and made a speech, Mubarak was overthrown, and now they hate us."

Trump, who flirted with a presidential bid himself before endorsing Mitt Romney's candidacy, argued that aside from "the biggies" - "you know, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, we had a couple of biggies, right?" - this election is "going to be the most important election that we've ever had."

In fact, he argued, this election "maybe more important than them."

"If this country doesn't shape up and shape up quickly it's going to be very, very hard to recover," he said, targeting Mr. Obama's foreign policy record. "There's never been a time in our country's history where a presidential election was more important, because our country is going in the wrong direction."

Trump argued that the dollar is "being devalued" and that the "world is laughing at us, they think we're stupid." He argued that America has the potential to achieve great things - such as, he said, Liberty University has.

"I've seen where you came from and how it was a struggle and how brilliant it is right now," he said. "Our country has the same potential if we ever wanted to do something about it."

Trump the Chump just can't seem to keep his greasy mouth shut. This coming from a man who makes gazillions of dollars and still doesn't know how to find a decent hairdresser....very telling.

The stock market has doubled since 2008. Donald Trump and other multi-millionaires like him have done very well under President Obama. It seems if you want to live like a fat cat republican, vote democratic.

I know I'd rather have President Obama, than someone who wonders why airplane windows don't roll down, since he finds that dangerous. Is any Republican awake?

By the way - I find it staggering that Liberty University folk are supporting Romney - a Mormon - which they view as a non-christian cult. I am curious about what my conservative friends are going to tell their children when they are asked "Who did you vote for? The Mormon? Can I be one too?"

That's funny, I've had similar questions. I remember 8 months ago they were chanting, "Anyone BUT Romney"; my, how following a political party instead of your morals can change your future.

I love this guy! If Romney wins I bet he will make Trump Secretary of State. Why not? Trump has more affiars than Romney (Romney has had none).

The Romney campaign must be TRULY desperate to send Trump to an evangelical college; it's hard to imagine anything more inappropriate and less convincing.
