Obama to make seventh appearance on Letterman

(CBS News) During a fundraising swing in New York next week, President Obama will tape an appearance on CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman." It will be Mr. Obama's seventh appearance on the program, and his second as president.

Previous presidential candidates have taken advantage of the late-night comedy circuit to show their lighter side. Then-candidate Bill Clinton made a lasting impression during his appearance on the Arsenio Hall show during his 1992 campaign when he played "Heartbreak Hotel" on the saxophone.

Mitt Romney has also appeared on "Late Night," but fewer times than Mr. Obama. He has sat down for an interview once and presented Letterman's "Top 10" twice.

More often, Romney is the center of Letterman's jokes. Letterman has crafted a caricature of Romney, often calling the Republican candidate "Mitch" and mocking his affluence.  Letterman also shows a regular segment called "Ann and Mitt Romney's Lies," which questions the couple's claims about buying clothes at Costco, doing laundry and engaging in other everyday activities.

Well done, Mr. President.

Regarding Romney, the video of the fundraiser revealed that he has contempt for and no problem insulting the 24 million unemployed Americans who paid no taxes last year, but who took government unemployment checks --- calling them irresponsible, entitled, government-dependent moochers. And how many of them are unemployed due to venture capitalists like Romney who outsourced their jobs overseas or closed their companies?

Who would vote for someone who kicked them when they were down? Could Romney afford to lose those 24 million votes which he had been courting by criticizing Obama's efforts to get them back to work and promising a speedier return to full employment?

I always thought Romney was smart, if a bit out of touch. Now I know he's both not smart and also very out of touch.

I personally find it extremely offensive that the Leader of our country is more interested in "hob knobbing" with the late night circuit, when our National Security and the state of affairs in Libya are so horrendous. Very bad taste. America has suffered this week....we don't need to watch him on Letterman. I don't like to look at "smiling" and "joking" when there should be respect for the severity of what is happening in our world, both fiscally and with foreign policy. SO, they joke about Romney on Letterman.....the obvious joke is that our President is making a laughing stock of the current administration by using bad judgement in continuing to "do" the talk show circuit...both he and his wife. I don't recall a President doing this so much in the past...poor taste and judgement. Just by being there is a joke. Too much Hollywood....not enough Presidential.

After Letterman said that Sarah Palin's daughter, Willow, was "knocked up" by New York Yankees third basemen Alex Rodriguez, how can Obama appear on his show? Obama stood up for Sandra Fluke but Obama won't stand up for a little girl? Is Obama a coward? Letterman also had an affair with an employee. What kind of sllimeball is David Letterman?
Looks like Obama is a Feminist Jihadist who won't protect little girls.

I have noticed this political season that dems for the most part appeal to reason with facts. Conversely I have noticed repubs appeal to fear and anger with juvenile name calling. Good job Lucas.

Amazing what's been showing up on here since Fox shut down their comments section, isn't it? They're migrating.

I hope Letterman sticks to only asking President Obama pertinent questions like "boxers or briefs".

Disgusting.
I can't stand the Obama's or that geek Letterman.
I stopped watching Letterman back in the 1990's.
Besides have to go to work the next day unlike Obama's constituents who don't, are on welfare or are still living with mommy and daddy and smoking pot in the basement.

Barry is weasting his time pandering for votes on his show since they are the same ones who will vote for him again.
The rest of us had no time for old tired BS talk shows and Obama's BS before or after after 10:00 PM.
SOS on Letterman every night.

That's not what Fact Check is telling us. CBS News also did their fact check on the Democrats and they feel way short of being fact filled.
To bad you don't notice that.
If you want to confuse a Democrat use facts and logic on them.
