Ryan sharpens criticism of Obama

(CBS News) OWENSVILLE, Ohio - Vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan sharpened his attacks on the administration's handling of violence in the Middle East, bringing him into line with nominee Mitt Romney's more forceful response to the attacks.

"The administration sent mixed signals to those who attacked our embassy in Egypt, and mixed signals to the world," Ryan said to a crowd of roughly 3,000 people Wednesday evening. "I want to be clear. It is never too early for the United States to condemn attacks on Americans, on our properties, and to defend our values. That's what leadership is all about."

His remarks were a stark contrast to his tone earlier in the day, when he expressed sorrow over the deaths of four American diplomats and called for a moment of silence. "This is a time for healing. It is a time for resolve. And in the face of such a tragedy, we are reminded that the world needs American leadership. And the best guarantee of peace is American strength," Ryan said during a town hall meeting in De Pere, Wis.

Spokesman Michael Steel said the change reflected Ryan's intent to lead a moment of reflection in the morning and to discuss policy in the evening, but that it was also a response to the White House, which accused Romney of injecting politics into a foreign policy crisis. In an interview with CBS News, Obama said Wednesday that Romney "seems to have a tendency to shoot first and aim later."

Romney has said that a statement from the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, which condemned "those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others," amounted to an administration apology for U.S. principles. While Ryan did not directly rebuke the president in his Wisconsin rally Wednesday morning, he said that a Romney administration would be better able to articulate American values abroad.

"It is very important that a president speak with a singular voice representing our principles and our values. We don't want people around the world wondering what our values are. We believe in individual rights, and particularly in the Middle East, we believe in women's rights," Ryan said during a town hall meeting with about 1,500 voters in his home state.

When a woman in the audience mentioned Shakil Afridi, a Pakistani doctor who has been jailed for helping the CIA collect information about the family of al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden before a raid last year, Ryan accused the administration of leaking security details about the operation.

"These leaks are not helpful. They're counterproductive," Ryan said, promising that a Romney-Ryan administration would not make the same "mistakes."

If Romney and Ryan are so sure of their position, why aren't they hiding in a bunker??

Ryan doesn't speak for international women's rights anymore than he speaks for marathon runners. What a laughing stock.

I found this on the fron page of the Teheran Times.

TEHRAN - U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said late on Sunday that Washington is "not setting deadlines" for Iran and still considers negotiations as "by far the best approach" to resolve the row over Iran's nuclear program.

The Obama administrations weakness, with apologies and talks instead of firm deadlines and consequences are a sure recipe for either war or a nuclear weapons Iran and the worst war we have ever seen.

The following is an excerpt from an AP article I read this morning. It sums up just how out of touch and inexperienced Romney really is:

"Some Republicans with experience in national security matters questioned the GOP candidate's handling of the events and top Republican leaders in Congress did not echo Romney's remarks. Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky said Obama "correctly tightened the security overseas." Asked about Romney's remarks, he declined to answer and walked toward his office in the Capitol.

Romney's account didn't mesh completely with events in Cairo."

I suppose Romney scolded little "Eddie Munster" Ryan for being "too nice" so now he's on board the Romney Hate Train. It's amusing that other Republican leaders are standing firm with the President on this issue...as they should. Just shows how out of touch with reality the R&R team are.

Foreign affairs experience: "In politics, stupidity is not a handicap," Romney stumbled onto Napoleon Bonaparte's quote somewhere and decided to take a foreign trip. And each time he opened his trap, he tripped.

I'll "defend to the death" the right of the miserable human beings who made this film to free speech, but that DOESN'T mean I can't observe that their "self-expression" is hateful and calculated to produce precisely the result it did produce. Therefore, while the people who actually scaled the embassy wall in Cairo and started the fire in Benghazi are fully responsible for their actions, the film's principals bear a heavy responsibility as well.

The attackers in Libya were not part of the protest, they were organized and had planned this. It had to do with the second in command of Al Qaeda being killed in June. They used the anniversary of 9/11 as an event date for the planned attack.

Ugh!! I can't stand Ryan. I know that's not a logical reaction, but something about him just creeps me out. Like the character from the Dead Zone who fooled everyone. His beliefs are too extreme and conservative. Mister, I'll help you out if you're rich....
