Following his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention last week, 43 percent of registered voters now view Romney favorably, while 48 percent view him unfavorably, according to the Washington Post/ABC News poll. Prior to his speech, only 40 percent viewed him favorably.
Meantime, Mr. Obama's favorability numbers dropped from a peak of 54 percent in April to just 47 percent now.
The poll indicates that the decline has occurred entirely among women registered voters going from 57 percent favorable in April to 46 percent now. The poll's margin of error is +/- 4 percent.
This poll comes on the heels of a Gallup tracking poll that suggests Romney received no bump in the polls following the GOP convention.
The Gallup survey, which polled voters between August 31 and September 3, showed Romney with 46 percent support, while President Obama earned 47 percent support.
In Gallup's pre-convention tracking poll, conducted from August 24-27, Mr. Obama was at 46 percent support and Romney was at 47 percent. Both results are within the poll's margin of error, which is +/- 3 percent.

Obama will step aside once the general elections show his as losing his bid for re-election. Once that happens, you will have a Republican in the White House and a good possibility that the Republicans will control Congress. A perfect storm so to speak.
As I do not support either one of these men and their ideologies, I anxiously await for the Conservatives to take the helm of this Titanic. The iceburg was struck some time ago, now it is only a matter of time before it goes down in history as one of mankinds greatest disasters, orchestrated by some very greedy individuals.
Be careful of what you ask for, you just might get it. Remember, I do not support neither party, any party for that matter. I've paid my debt to society years ago by leaving a leg and hand in Vietnam.
It's funny how people worry themselves over who's in office and what damage he's done to this Republic. For what it's worth, the damage was done once we slaughtered the Native Americans, took their land and herded them onto reservations. But you wouldn't know any of this would you? Do you realize that the original illegal aliens in America were the pallid skinned people that landed upon the shores of the Eastern sea board to escape religious persecution?
