Romney: Democratic convention won't be as happy as ours

(CBS News) CINCINNATI, Ohio - Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, basking in the afterglow of his convention and acceptance speech, predicted a different kind of gathering for the Democratic Party's convention beginning Tuesday in Charlotte.

"It's not going to be as happy as ours was," Romney told an overflow group of some 500 people who could not be squeezed into the central terminal of a train station and museum where Romney held a rally with Ohio Sen. Rob Portman and House Speaker John Boehner.

Later, Romney raised several of the themes from his convention speech to the crowd of several thousand in the central terminal, arguing that President Obama had failed to deliver on promises made to the American electorate four years ago.

"He made a lot of promises and I noted that he didn't keep a lot of promises," Romney said. "One of the promises that he made was that he was going to create more jobs and today 23 million people are out of work or stopped looking for work or underemployed. "

On the day when college football kicked off around the country, Romney compared the president's record to that of a sports coach. "If you have a coach that is zero and 23 million, you say it's time to get a new coach," he said to loud applause. "It's time for America to see a winning season again and we're going to bring it to them."

Romney's running mate, Paul Ryan, also campaigned in Ohio, attending the season opener of his alma mater - Miami University of Ohio - against the Ohio State Buckeyes. The pair will reunite Saturday evening for a rally in Jacksonville, Fla.

Happy?? Their convention was a FLOP! They barely got a bump in the polls, and their desperation was far too blatant! Instead of anything positive, they just continued to try to knock down President Obama every other sentence with theit twisted theme. Obviously, none of the Republicans is intelligent enough to know that NOBODY gets anywhere in this world without the help of MULTIPLE other people, including parents and teachers, NEITHER of whom require allegiance to the government, as was their sick, needy twist. I can see now how they got stuck with Romney, even though they tried their darndest to shake him off! They simply don't have any intelligent people in their leadership any more. Karl Rove never even graduated from college, while most Democrat leaders have their DOCTORATE degrees. Course, Republicans can get into college with money alone, while Democrats must have BRAINS to be accepted! Now, their NEXT theme on the campaign trail is AGAIN going to be about Obama because there IS nothing uplifting about their anti-women, anti-Medicare, anti-Obamacare, and their plans to cut food and healthcare programs from babies to the elderly, in order to TRY to have enough money for their selfish , outrageous tax cuts tax cuts for themselves, the multi-millionaires and billionaires. And they STILL won't have enough, so what ELSE will they cut from the middle class?? Nope, NONE of that would be very uplifting, so I guess they'd better try to cut down Obama some more! We FEEL your desperation!

Happy, Mitt? Because of all the lies told at the RNC convention?

You draw an overflow crowd in Cincinnati, a part of Ohio with so many Republican voters you shouldn't even need to be campaigning there and then claim your convention was "happier"?

Maybe your convention was "happier" because Republicans in the House (whose approval rating stands at 10%, lower than Paris Hilton!) have done such a great job of saying "NO"!

Maybe your convention was "happier" because the GOP no longer even pretends to represent the interest of most Americans, but ONLY represents the interest of the top 1%!

The Democrats have a HARDER job: we try to represent ALL Americans! You ought to try it some time!

Of course Romney is happy. He got away with not releasing his tax returns for Americans to see. He got away with years of American economy destruction like job outsourcing, hiding money in tax havens instead of investing and create jobs in the U.S. He got away with big talks about job creation without doing it.

Guess they were happy with their efforts to turn the clock back to the time of the "Happy Days" TV show. Oh well whatever floats Romney's boat.

Figures that a dour white snarl-fest was Romney's idea of "happy".

Kinda like other Romney hobbies that include chopping off a classmate's hair and roofracking his dog.

From an oversees observers perspective someone would have to be either devoid of intelligence or a millionaire to vote Romney-Ryan.

I agree. However, I wish it were possible to forget that my fellow Americans voted George W. Bush into office not once, but twice. So anything is possible this go around also.

Yes, and Mitt, it this because the trees are not the right height at the DNC center? Or is it because the rain is not as wet? What an idiot.... And this was the best the GOP had? I do not think so. I think the GOP saw this as a No-win election and thus decided to sacrifice one person they could afford to lose from the party and thus save their best candidate for 2016. Romney is the lamb for sacrifice. Ryan just needed to go too. He is a liability with all of his lying and far right proposals.
