Romney raises $101 million in July; outraises Obama for third straight month

Obama vs. Romney on the economy

Updated 9:45 a.m. ET

(CBS News) Mitt Romney's campaign and a joint fundraising committee with the Republican National Committee raised a combined $101.3 million during July, the Romney campaign announced Monday. This is the second consecutive month that Romney has raised more than $100 million in a month, having first broken his own monthly fundraising record in June by bringing in $106 million.

And, for the third month in a row, the Obama campaign was outraised by his Republican rival. The Obama campaign brought in $75 million last month, the campaign announced via Twitter.

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus responded to the Romney camp's robust fundraising saying, "Americans are clearly looking for a change in the White House."

"Mitt Romney has a plan that will create jobs, grow the economy, and build a stronger middle class - that is why he is seeing such strong support," said Priebus in his written statement.

Romney has had to play catch-up to Barack Obama, who had the luxury of being able to raise and spend directly against Romney while his Republican rival spent the better part of a year running for his party's nomination and spending against his intraparty opponents. But since he became the presumptive nominee in April, Romney has been able to work with the RNC and they have been on a fundraising tear.

Time to send Romney another $500.00 as my August contribution..

...or maybe I'll make it $1,000.00

Anything I can do ,as a small businessman, to stop the economy destroying disaster currently residing in the White House.

Mitt Romney who wants to buy the presidency and has the rich friends who are footing the bill. The ones bankrolling this know that if this empty suit is elected he'll be "their man" and the investment will pay off in the form of MORE money directed to their off shore accounts. One can only hope the voters see through this charade.

When Obama took office he inherited an economy that was in a downward landslide,

a national debt that reached 11.9 trillion before his first fiscal budget was even proposed,

an Unemployment rate that had skyrocketed from 4.9% earlier in 2008 to 7.3% by the end of 2008 (resulting in drastically reduced income taxes from those laid off workers),

continued expenses for two wars,

more lost revenue from multiple tax cuts,

the fact that outsourced jobs meant a prolonged unemployment rate.

A republican party that swore to never raise revenue (taxes) and to do everything in their power to make him a one-term president, even to the extent of forcing a reduction in America's credit rating.

Except for the fact that we would almost certainly be in a second great depression now, I would rather that McCain had won in 2008. At least republicans would now be having to accept responsibility for the Bush/Cheney fiasco, rather than constantly blaming it on President Obama.

I forgot to add:

Over $1.5 trillion in interest on the existing debt.

" When Obama took office he inherited an economy that was in a downward landslide,"

And his policies have kept it there.

Instead of unleashing the private sector like Reagan did in 1980..which had the economy roaring back by this time in Reagan's first term..Obama has chosen to wage rhetorical and regulatory war on the private sector.

Unemployment over 8% for 42 consecutive months.

8.1% unemployment two months ago.

8.2% unemployment one month ago.

8.3% unemployment now.

Why would any sane person want 4 more years of such failure?

rectification, they are the rich who wants this change, because if Mitt Romney arrives at the White House, it is precisely thanks to these wealthy donors, this explain the abundance of gifts for the republican party.
"au revoir"

This will be the first Presidential Election that the the camp with the most donations loses. If they didn't have a stiff like Romney they might have had a chance.

We The People don't mind being bought. Its called employment. So why would government not be bought as well. Its normal. Money is power. Most everyone can be bought for the right price - even you own congressman (or women) who gets returned to congress over and over. Before you know - institutionalized corruption.

And its legal!

The left is always trying to re-write history and change the definitions of words we have always known or events and facts

I'll shove your head up Obama's azz if you don't like the truth.

Like we never had traitors who served in the military like you.
Only fakes like you pretend to wear your sevice on your sleeve.

So what, just because he is collecting more money from the crocks of this country it means nothing! I believe we the middle class and the lower class outnumber them. As long as we don't sale our vote there is nothing to worry about. Let them waste their money supporting a crock like them. The rich are sweating because finally they have to pay their share, just think, many companies the President is trying to eliminate taxes breaks from are not paying their employees a cent, we the people that pay taxes are. They get trillions in tax breaks while we don't, so at the end the equation is that from our taxes the rick get paid and in return they pass a fraction to their employees. Romney claims that increasing taxes will affect all business, no he is wrong; it will only affect the rich pockets, because now they really will have to pay their employees and receive less corporate bonuses.
