Is Romney getting closer to picking running mate?

Despite saying on Thursday that he hadn't yet decided on a running mate, Mitt Romney gave a possible hint on Friday that he's nearing a decision: Three of his top strategists accompanied him on a flight from Aspen, Colo., to Las Vegas.

The trio included Beth Myers, who is leading his vice presidential selection process, as well as former Republican National Committee chairman Ed Gillespie and senior campaign advisor Kevin Madden.

During a radio interview on Thursday with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Romney declined an opportunity to make an announcement about his pick or the timing. But he praised the "large number of people" from whom he's had to choose.

Later on Thursday, Romney met with some of the possibilities at a meeting of the Republican Governors Association near Aspen. Among the governors present were New Jersey's Chris Christie and Louisiana's Bobby Jindal, both of whom have been the subject of running-mate speculation.

Each of the governors gave brief remarks praising Romney and highlighting their own accomplishments that they achieved in their states using conservative principles.

Romney is holding a campaign event Friday at Sierra Truck Body & Equipment in North Las Vegas. From there he is scheduled to travel to a series of fundraisers in Reno.

Romney, working to be president for a decade, sees no rush picking a VP. He will likely be a Rove puppet so VP makes no difference. Two puppets on the stage is redundant.

As much as I respect Sarah Palin, she is not the right choice at this time. I would love to see Mr. Romney chose Chris Christie or Rob Portman. I worked for Rob Portman on one of his campaigns and he is the most respectful, hardworking men I have ever met. He certainly believes in American Exceptionalism...we need someone like that.
