Romney, GOP say Obama is true "outsourcer-in-chief"

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Mitt Romney went on the offensive Tuesday against President Obama and other Democrats who have been hammering him as an outsourcing pioneer. Turning Obama's phrase against him, Romney argued that it's Obama who is an "outsourcer-in-chief" sending American jobs overseas.

The Obama campaign and its allies have been attacking Romney for more than two weeks over a Washington Post report that Bain Capital, with Romney at the helm, invested in companies that outsourced U.S. jobs. Responding to the claims for the first time at a public event, Romney pointed to a FactCheck.org analysis that found the Obama campaign's claims "false and misleading."

Then he turned the argument back on Obama himself.

Watch Romney's remarks in the video to the left.

"It's interesting that when it comes to outsourcing that this president has been outsourcing a good deal of American jobs himself by putting money into energy companies, solar and wind energy companies that end up making their products outside the United States," Romney told a crowded gymnasium of several hundred in western Colorado, an area that's friendly territory for Republicans. "If there's an outsourcer in chief, it's the president of the United States, not the guy that's running to replace him."

Romney's shift to offense comes as part of a coordinated GOP attack on the president over outsourcing. The Republican National Committee on Tuesday morning launched ObamanomicsOutsourced.com, a website the party said is devoted to the president's "'sterling' record of shipping the American recovery overseas." Among other things, the RNC said Obama is "sending American dollars to fund diesel engines in Thailand and build wind turbines in Italy."

The coordinated GOP response on outsourcing came a day after The Washington Post reported on Obama's inability to stem the flow of jobs shipped overseas by American companies during his time in office.

Lis Smith, a spokeswoman for the Obama campaign, said there is a stark contrast between the two candidates on policy. "Mitt Romney's plans encourage outsourcing. Barack Obama wants to end incentives to send jobs overseas. President Obama has fought to end tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas, fostered incentives for companies to bring jobs back to America and doubled the rate of trade cases we've brought against China to ensure an even playing field for American workers," she said in a statement.

She said Romney has "personally profited from investments in companies that were pioneers in shipping American jobs to India and China as a corporate buyout specialist" and would cede renewable energy industry to China.

Outsourcing...another fake word made up by liberals to insult my intelligence.

We now live in a WORLD ECONOMY. There's no such thing as outsourcing...it's called "Running a profitable business". Something Obanana knows nothing about.

Make America more appealing to investors and create more jobs. It's not rocket science. No one goes into business to create a job or improve a community...they do it for profit. Currently this administration wants investors to take all the financial risk, bind them with fees and regulations and if they're successful, the govt wants 60% - 65% of the profit.

"Outsourcing" is the new liberal term being used to slander good business decisions. If you remember in the 90's it was "Downsizing"...another negative liberal term used to slander companies that could no longer afford to pay someone $250,000.00 to sort paper clips.

Here we go again folks. SWISS-MITT and the GOP are playing their childish game of "Not Me, You!"

Never fails. The GOP always gets around to identifying all their faults then tries to throw them at the other candidate.

Obama and Outsourcer LOL REALLY SWISS-MITT? So saving bankrupt Ford, GM and Chryler is OUT-SOURCING?

Next week's Headline:

"Romney, GOP say Obama is a White Mormon!"

It's good for we little people to remember this. It's gotten much better for Leona's ilk since 1983.

Romney and his GOP cohorts have no idea what it is to WORK for a living, or how important a living wage is. By abandoning the middleclass Romney and the GOP have created millions of very disgruntled citizens, who will not vote for them, now or never again. The GOP, especially Romney are completely out of touch with the middle class, and seem to care less what we think and what we need. A strong middleclass is the only way that the US economy will rebound and grow. I guess they are too busy lining their pockets with cash to be concened about anyone but themselves. They sure are not earning their paychecks, that we pay for. Vote the whole bunch out of office as soon as poossible.

A few years ago I would have decried this comment as Democrats' rhetoric. Today, I am sad to say, I am beginning to agree. GOP leadership is out of touch.

Let us pray and hope that the moderate Republicans manage to stage a comeback. At the very least, I'd like some Republicans who actually like to discuss policies with Democrats and compromise to get something DONE... instead of leaving us all in the cold.

Who are you speaking for? I am a middle-class member of the GOP, and I will MOST CERTAINLY be voting for Romney (and I am not alone). You might want to check the Democrat's pockets for money while you are at it.

A Hollywood director couldn't wish for a better actor than Romney to play a lying power-monger. Romney comes across as such an insincere creep that I can barely stand watching clips of him speaking. It's so obvious that his recent tendency towards denim pants is to help sell his story to the working man. What's that saying, fitting to him and his church, about wolves in sheep's clothing?

Yes, Mr. Obama, a millionaire in his own right, wearing short sleeved shirts and no tie - that's fine - he IDENTIFIES with the common man. Sure - check out his fundraisers to see how many "common men" attend. But, Romney can't wear jeans? Please.

By the way, you are Canadian - we don't care what you think.

Funny, Romney and his buddies say the same thing to the bottom 98% (which undoubtedly includes anyone that blogs, including JWinATL), "we don't care what you think."

Barack's record is pathetic!

That being said, Romney needs to prove that he's going to be different if he want's to win points on this issue. Which is kind of a tough spot, in that he can't say anything that's going to **** off Corporate America.

Except that if he's worried about pissing off Corporate America BEFORE the election, then why should anybody believe he'll risk pissing them off AFTER the election?

Seems like he's destined to be another Barack (Corporate America's ***** ... )

Very poor comeback! Romney is such a sad case, and even the Republicans didn't want him. They certainly tried hard to have the primary winner be anybody BUT him!
