Romney outraises Obama by $35 million in June

President Obama's campaign was outraised for the second straight month by Mitt Romney.

(CBS News) While word trickled out last week that Mitt Romney was set to announce a $100 million fundraising month in June, official word came out Monday: he and the RNC actually raised $106.1 million in June for his election.

The Obama campaign, in turn, announced they and the Democratic Party pulled in $71 million, the second month in a row they were outraised by their Republican rival.

"It was our best month of this election so far," Obama campaign Chief Operating Officer Ann Marie Habershaw wrote in an email to donors.

"But we still got beat -- and not by a little bit," she continued.

Romney campaign spokesperson Andrea Saul said in a statement Monday, "This month's fundraising is a statement from voters that they want a change of direction in Washington."

"In the months to come, these resources will be crucial to highlighting the difference between President Obama's broken promises and Mitt Romney's plan to get America on the right track again," Saul said.

The Romney campaign says it and its joint RNC committee had at least $160 million in the bank as of June 30. The Obama campaign didn't say how much they and the joint DNC committee have on hand, however, at the end of May, they had $147 million.

For months, the Obama campaign has said they'd be outspent by Romney and the Republicans, pointing specifically to "super PACs", which can raise unlimited amounts of money independent of the campaigns. Republican-leaning "super PACs" have raised millions more than Democratic-backed "super PACs" this cycle.

"If we lose this election, it will be because we didn't close the gap enough when we had the chance," Obama campaign COO Habershaw's email added.

Romney held at least one fundraiser on at least 18 out of the 30 days in June. This does not include the three-day retreat with major donors in Utah because according to campaign officials, that was not an actual fundraiser. We do not know the exact number of fundraisers he held because the campaign does not always alert the press when he's holding a fundraiser.

The locations of his fundraisers were spread out: California, Oregon, Washington State, Texas, Missouri, Utah, Georgia, Tennessee, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Arizona, Virginia, New York, New Jersey and Washington, D.C.

In comparison, Mr. Obama attended 33 fundraisers in June, the most of any month since filing for re-election in April 2011.

I have never seen one of them say "America be damned; make Obama a one-term president."

Have you ever heard of Mitch McConnell? Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell explained that "the single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president." In other words perpetual partisan obstruction of Obama is the only true goal. Also, Newt Gringrich said that his goal was to underpin public confidence in government so as to radically reshape it in order to create frustration with voters. Finally, Rush Lambuagh...remember him three days into Obama's term, remember Rush bouncing up and down at the podium? He gleefully declared that all GOP should follow his example and ensure that Obama fails. Fails!!!! He continued to say that he didn't care who got hurt AS LONG AS OBAMA FAILS.

What more? Read Do Not Ask What Good We Do: Inside the U.S. House of Representatives by Robert Draper. Draper describes how the small group of elected Tea Party members are willingly pulling apart our Congress making it harder to compromise, accomplish, even harder to propose ideas.

'In the midterm election year 2010, recession-battered Americans expressed their discontent with a simultaneously overreaching and underperforming government by turning the formerly Democratically controlled House over to the Republicans. Among the new GOP majority were eighty-seven freshmen, many of them political novices with Tea Party backing who pledged a more open, responsive, and fiscally thrifty House. What the 112th Congress instead achieved was a public standing so low—a ghastly 9 percent approval rating— that, as its longest-serving member, John Dingell, would dryly remark, "I think pedophiles would do better." Can there be any further doubt whom Romney will serve if elected?

OK Obama haters, please state any republican bill, policy or current political stance that favors struggling Americans over corporations, big oil and the wealthy? Of course this looong list will justify republicans deserving the votes of struggling Americans over President Obama and Democrats, right?

I'm sure you are not expecting an answer to your request.

The current GOP not only will never propose any legislation that would improve the economy, they will (as they have so blatantly proven) block any such bills by Democrats that would improve conditions in America, because any improvement would look more favorable on President Obama.

Any and all bills passed by the GOP dominated House of Representatives, over the past two years, have been intentionally designed in a way that would further destroy working-class Americans.

They know that either way the democrats and/or the President will lose favor. If they refuse to pass/sign the bills they can be criticized as not doing anything. And if the do pass/sign the bills they will be the ones responsible for the inevitable devastation the bills would bring.

Their admitted goal is; America be damned; make Obama a one-term president.

And, as shown by many posters on this and other sites, their strategy appears to be working.
That sure speaks volumes about the intelligence and/or moral character of many people.

I havent seen what you posted here. Do you have any evidence to the fact?

I mean...I do vote for some Republicans, and I am disgusted with many others...but I have seen them opposing Obama because they dont agree with what he wants to do. So, why should they go along with our President if they dont agree?

The libs never complained before the last election when Obama outspent McCain by a 3 to 1 margin, or when Obama received the majority of the Wall Street money. Now of course it's a big deal when the messiah, depsite the fact he has already made 107 campaign trips, three times what the hated Bush made, and still gets outfunded by a Republican candidate. The message you libs refuse to recognize is the funding disparity has nothing to do with the rich republicans, it's all about needed "change" once again.

The big difference was who was donating the money. Small donors for Obama vs the big guns of the GOP.

I Know that GOP supporters hate it when others such as myself do a copy paste. I never had a problem with copy and paste since to me it is very similar to the technique I was taught in graduate school...back up opinions with sources and evidence. So in that spirit:

One of the biggest may be the success the Democrats' congressional fundraising arms have had with small donors. Contributors of $200 or less gave a total of $21.5 million to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) through November 2011, up from $13.2 million during the same period in 2009, according to research by the Center for Responsive Politics. That's a gain of 62 percent. And the DCCC overall has actually raised more than $4 million more this year than it did two years earlier.

Its Republican counterpart, the National Republican Congressional Committee, saw an increase from small donors of just 18 percent, from $10.7 million through the first 11 months of 2009 to $12.6 million during the same period in 2011.

And then best one of them all: Looks like in this election the big money is on Romney to give them more breaks and to allow them to get even wealthier while paying low taxes and shipping jobs overseas....In this instance the Koch Brothers fired a group of employees overseas which I guess they thought would make the issue of bribes go away. Since they openly admit they will spent In this instance the Koch Brothers fired a group of employees overseas which I guess they thought would make the issue of bribes go away. Since they openly admit they will spent $100,000,000 to put Romney in office to put Romney in office...

What was that number? Oh yeah....$100,000,000 to put Romney in office!!!!!!

Ever notice republicans NEVER run budget deficits on spending to help average Americans? They ALWAYS waste taxpayer dollars on things to empty the treasury without helping people. This is strategic by republicans. They do this and then cry the country is broke and we can't afford that! They do this because they NEVER want average americans to think government can help and enhance them. They ALWAYS use government to help corporations, big oil and the wealthy, not average Americans. This is why republicans ALWAYS speak negatively of government. Wake up people!

This is why they have been on a 30 plus years crusade against governemnt. To convince average Americans that government is no good and cannot do anything positive for them. They use the term Limited Government" what they really mean as republicans we limit governments ability to help and enhance the lives of average Americans while enhusiastically supporting corporations, big oil and the super rich.

Can any republican supporter state any republican bill, policy or current political stance that favors struggling Americans over corporations, big oil and the wealthy? Of course this looong list will justify republicans deserving the votes of struggling Americans over President Obama and Democrats, right?

Republicans are using playing on the racism against President Obama of some voters to get them to vote republican. Which ironically is the very party that has blocked and stopped every piece of legislation from President Obama that would help average Americans. This election voters will decide whether to reward the republican party which has brazenly worked to keep them jobless or reward President Obama for constantly fighting against them on behalf of average Americans.

Wake Up Voters!

How is taking money from one person and handing it to another helping them?

Are Republicans money donors "Bribes"? Money given with a view to corrupting the behavior of a person, especially in that person's performance as a public official. Example: "I will not raise taxes on the rich....the 1%". What happen when the rich is able to buy the office of President? Who will suffer?

Did Willard Romney's haul come entirely from his Koch Brother masters, or did he donate some to himself from the massive loot that Mr. "Believe in America" has hidden in all of his sleazy offshore accounts and dummy tax-evading corporations? You know, the loot he took from the American workers he fired when he destroyed their companies. He has more than enough to buy the election, with plenty left over to finance his car elevator and Dancing Horse.
