(CBS News) Rielle Hunter says she and John Edwards are no longer in a relationship.
"We are a family, but as of the end of last week, John Edwards and I are no longer a couple," Hunter said on ABC's "Good Morning America" on Tuesday, the same day her tell-all book was released.
Hunter is the mother of Edwards' 4-year-old daughter Frances Quinn Hunter. Last month, a trial over charges of campaign finance corruption related to the affair ended in a hung jury on most of the felony counts. Federal prosecutors then dropped the remaining charges against Edwards.
The end of Hunter's controversial relationship with Edwards coincides with the release of her tell-all book, "What Really Happened: John Edwards, Our Daughter and Me."
Hunter, whose relationship with Edwards began when his wife was battling breast cancer, has said she wanted to end perceptions that she was a home-wrecker with this book.
Of their split, Hunter said Tuesday, "It's because I'm no longer interested in hiding." When asked if she still loved Edwards, Hunter told ABC, "I do."

She also doesn't deserve to be in the middle of their battles and she doesn't deserve the cruel names that some people will call her.
Everything about that woman says *****! The word flashes from her like a neon sign, and in bright red letters, everytime I see her on tv or on the internet!
She knew John Edwards was married. She knew it but she went after him anyway. She also knew that Elizabeth Edwards was dying. She couldn't even wait until she was gone. That, to me, makes her even lower in my eyes.
I know that Elizabeth was no saint and it's said that she was hard to live with. Still, though, she was John Edwards wife and when he said his marriage vows he took her for better or worse.
He also took her for richer for poorer and IN SICKNESS AND IN HEALTH UNTIL DEATH DO PART!
According to the Holy Bible, Elizabeth is the only one who had the right to get a divorce in their case because she caught him in adultery. She didn't though. She chose not to.
No where in the Holy Bible or in Edwards' wedding vows does it say that he has the right to cheat on his wife if she's hard to get along with or if she gets an incurable disease.
Also I was taught that if a man is married, all other women are supposed to keep their hands off him in a sexual way! They aren't supposed to wink at him and bat their eyes at him or tell him how hot he is or go to his hotel room either!
They are supposed to treat him politely and like a friend, but nothing more! There are words that describe women who go further with them and they are not very flattering and Rielle Hunter fits every one of them!
I'm also going to say that when a married man flirts around with another woman and makes a pass at her, a DECENT woman will turn him down flat and tell him to go home to his wife! Rielle Hunter is NOT a decent woman!
Now in the Muslin world, which is from 60 to 75% of the world's people, all he had needed to do was offer the father a few camels, goats, sheep or maybe trade one of his daughters or even a he-she that he may have, and all would be happy sitting around the same camp fire, drinking goat pi$$ wine and smoking camel $H!T-bud!!
Every one that is crying about this, needs to stick there $H!T dripping nose in there own midnight meetings with the next door Tabor, or the sex-a-tel-who, and every-body who's wants some and leave these people and others alone!!!!
