Conservative gay rights group endorses Romney

(CBS News) The board of directors of GOProud, a conservative gay rights group, voted Tuesday night to endorse Republican Mitt Romney for president, citing his economic positions while noting its differences with the candidate on the issue of gay marriage.

"Most gay Americans, like their straight counterparts, are not better off than they were four years ago," said Jimmy LaSalvia, GOProud executive director, in a statement. "The truth is that gay people are living in the disastrous, failed Obama economy too.

"President Obama and his friends on the left want this election to be about divisive social issues, because the president's record on jobs and the economy is indefensible. At this critical juncture, we need a president with the experience and expertise to turn this economy around. Someone who knows how the free markets work. Former Gov. Mitt Romney is that candidate."

LaSalvia noted that the group still strongly disagrees with Romney's support for a federal marriage amendment outlawing same-sex marriage and wants to see "bolder" action on tax reform, entitlement reform and spending. Two board members did not vote for Romney, including Christopher Barron, a GOProud co-founder who supports former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson for president.

Robmee never said anything that was really true unless he was lucky. As a Republicon you almost HAVE to say the opposite of the truth. It does not matter since the Supreme Court ended actual elections in Amerika. Robmee, the Wall Street puppet, will be appointed as the mindless mouthpiece of the millionaires and billionaires. Can we all say Heil Mitler, yet?

It's hysterical that gays are more capable of critical thinking than are liberals. I often wonder why they call themselves "liberal", when they're anything but.
Just because they have a alternative sexual preference doesn't mean they cannot think for themselves. Everyone capable of logical deduction can see obama is hurting this country & Romney has the experience to correct our course.

What experience is that, creating minimum wage jobs without benefits at Staples while closing down huge numbers of local small businesses? Is that what you want for the young people of America? Or maybe you support the GOP assault on women, gays, minorities, the poor, the young and the middle class. Good thinking!

Obamas hurting the country?

Seems to me that bush was handed a budget surplus and turned it into the 2nd great repub depression.

Every group - even my gay friends - has its fools - their braines mushed by Fox news (and its sublimianl messaging on tV), the child molester (thats what his haiti trips are about - buying the only things they have to "export" - their kids butts.

And that ranting Beck guy who my Jewish wifes rabbi calles a neo -nazi re Israel.

I would rather struggle economically than to give up my civil rights. We live in a capatilist nation and there is always a way to get by during hard times. But to ban gay people from their civil rights is a permanant situation, and a bad one a that. The gay group is betraying their brothers and sisters by endorsing Romney.

Greedy, self-loathing, gay Republicans would never vote against their own money. They love to be excluded amongst themselves, and at the same time, hate each other. It's a gay misery thing. They love to be taken advantage of by males at least half of their age because it makes them feel like responsible consumers. They're genuinely dysfunctional humans and live extremely sheltered lives.

Beside the fact that your post is contradictory & pointless, it must be fairly easy to speak of hate so freely when you have an obvious brewing anger problem.
Anything resembling a "fact" ever cross your mind to support your argument, or just personal epithets against an entire group of people, whom you know NOTHING about.

This is pathetic. It would be like people of color joining the KKK. And I agree that it is the same as women republicans. They want to vote, but who do they think made it possible for them to have the right to vote?

I know liberals hate facts (as well as everything else on earth) but ignorance is not a good argument for fabricating things you know little about.
Only after the Republicans won control of congress in 1919 did the Equal Suffrage Amendment pass.

DJ3202 - yes repubs did to good things. Until captured by the people who gave us segregation and the KKK

Back when the dems were the bad guys in the south re segregation, Johnson passed the civil rights laws and everything flipped.

As Pr. Johnson said in 1964 signing those bills into laws, "I've handed the south to the repubs for a 100 years"

BTW my best friend is a gay who was kind of repub. Because his father is a staunch repub

It took a little time to convince him he was putting his head into the noose by being such.

NOw his father, in an act of xtian / repub love, wont even talk to him any more.

BTW heres what the NOM repubs think the solution to gay marriage is. Its from indiana - not exactly a paragon of thinking..........

BTW -the catholic church is virulently anti gay and anti marriage

Here's an example of the german popes beliefs..............

No doubt GOProud is brain dead. GOProud may be is the only organized group that would vote against its own interest. All other organized groups would only vote for their own interests. Many groups, like the Superpacs, even spend millions of dollars to do so. Its time for all thinking gays and lesbians to leave GOProud.

So Dstar - are you saying you prefer what hitler did to the gays - tossed them into the ovens?

Welcome to America - the 2nd to last country to end slavery and the only one to need a war to do it

And even after 55 million died in wwii, Dstar (death star?) prefers the same final solution to the gays (and jews )

Some people really do deserve to burn in hell DStar. Maybe we should instead just tatoo your ass with GAY and drop you off in Tehran.

Let the mulsims do the wet work

Teh problem is twofold. Some gays are fiscally conservative and fall for the Faux news spin machine.

Others, in so many ways in the closet havent teh experience of working in politics. Its going to take time.

People in general will pick one or maybe two issues, and subjugate all the others, even if those are key to their ending bigotry, gaining respect and breaking the back of the several thousand gay kids driven to suicide each year - by a society poisoned by religious extremism.

But look at the worlds experience with religion. its now the dominant cause of wars, terrorism etc.

In the past it was the same, but then the bad guys were the VAtican, whose Christian crusades killed tnes of millions of muslims from about 1000 to 1400AD

And 9-11 was just a long delayed hatfield - MCCoy retribution.

Because gays, unlike so many on the left and right, can think and reason and aren't brainwashed and want what they think is best for their country at large. They don't all need politicians to use them as a special interest group.
