Obama hits Romney for outsourcing jobs

(CBS News) President Obama's campaign has two new television ads hitting presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney for outsourcing jobs overseas and cutting taxes for the wealthy while increasing fees on middle income earners as governor of Massahusetts.

One 30-second spot opens with a narrator reminding voters that Romney ran for governor of Massachusetts in 2002 as a job creator, showing a clip of the candidate saying "I know how jobs are created."

"But as a corporate raider he shipped jobs to China and Mexico," the narrator intones, citing a filing with Securities and Exchange Commission and an article in the Los Angeles Times.

The ad notes that Romney then outsourced Massachusetts states jobs to India and is now running for president with the same claim that he understands "why jobs come and why they go."

"Outsourcing jobs. Romney economics: It didn't work then and it won't work now," the narrator says.

The ad comes as the outside group supporting Romney is launching a $7.6 million ad buy to promote the businessman turned candidate and hit the president for saying "the private sector is doing fine."

Restore our Future plans to air ads in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

And another group opposed to President Obama's signature health care law is running $6 million worth of ads in half a dozen key states to criticize the legislation ahead of the Supreme Court's upcoming decision on its constitutionality.

"Our members are highly energized on the aspects of the president's health care law; we are making a significant financial investment on this issue because we mean business," said Peggy Nance, chief executive of Concerned Women for America.

The ad is slated to run in Iowa, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Virginia and Wisconsin.

The second Obama ad hits Romney for cutting taxes on the wealthy "but he raised taxes and fees on everyone else."

You think sending jobs to Mexico or China is bad. Consider this. And there are probably
hundreds of towns like ours in this country. In 2005 the City Manager of Seminole, Oklahoma
announced his "Continuing Program for eliminating blighted structures." Thus, for whatever
political or make-an-example-of-somebody or put the squeeze on the real estate market
purposes, with the help of the Fire Chief, he proceeded on a "delayed and reduced" fire
response followed by job security for a demolition contractor, with demand on the property
owner to "abate the nuisance" and deed the land to the City. I'm sure there were a lot of
folks who liked the increased open spaces. BUT it appears none of those properties had
mortgages and very few were ever replaced. Thus these buildings, many commercial in
the downtown area, were not available for businesses to produce the needs of the Economy,
and each such enterprise that does not put out production means all the jobs that would
have been there for processing, packaging, transporting, warehousing, retailing, and
consuming that produce are not there. And they wonder why businesses can't afford to
hire. They do good to collect the money to pay their rent and other overhead. And the
country wants to blame Mitt Romney for shipping jobs out of the country? They did it
here merely by shipping them to oblivion with nothing to show for it.

Ever heard of a solar panel manufacturer named Sun Power Corp.? Taxpayers will be on the hook for $1.2 billion, yes that's 1,200 million dollars, when it goes bankrupt. It lost $46 million last quarter. This company will make Solyndra look like child's play. Obama's investment in the company on "behalf" of the American taxpayer was fraudulent, as the manufacturing operations of the company are located in a barrio slum in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. The company pays its workforce from the nearby slums $1.00 to $1.50 an hour. The only ones that really benefitted from this operation were Obama's chronies connected with Sun Power. Now who is an outrageous example of a thuggish outsourcer? I wish CBS News would pay Sun Power a visit in Mexicali.

Obama voted 'YES' to repeal that anti-free market corporate welfare handout trash, so why should anybody take them at face value based on their record, which is longer than Obama - proving having experience is not always a good thing...

The GOP has ZERO right to talk about jobs.

PERIOD.

According to Romney's camp, it's not out-sourcing, it's off-shoring. Or is it the other way around? (Cue the collective eye rolling ...)

Gotta love the?spin-doctoring. Why not call it "global diversification of human resources"?

Remember, for many?self-proclaimed capitalists, "patriotism" has more to do with?green?than?red, white, and blue.

Hey, Reaganomics is a tremendous success. Corporations run America for profit. The rich have never been richer and millions of jobs have been outsources by "People" like Robmee.

The rich have taken over the media to manipulate people with fear and war profiteers make trillions by starting wars. And they have captured an entire political party, the Republicons to do their every bidding. The right wing wet dream of Reaganomics has come to fruition.

"People" like Robmee and his billionaire supporters MUST have bred with evil aliens who are out to take over the earth for the mother planet? How else do you explain their greed, greed to the point of evil.

Let's raise the taxes on the 99% so we can add to our millions. Wow!

I am sick and tired of trying to defend America from the radical right wing wackos who hate America. I have been protesting and spending my money to stop these Republicon lunatics from changing everything to benefit the few at my expense. Does that answer your question?

I do not see how any person who has worker for an hourly wage in America could vote for a candidate for President who has off-shored US jobs. This candidate has no feelings or understanding of pride in HIS country or the American worker. He, also, sees nothing wrong in off-shoring jobs by any company in the future. Too many Americans will vote for ANY candidate--Adolf Hitler included --who will say the 4 magic words "I'll lower your TAXES" and are willing to sacrifice their country for an empty promise.

The facts are that Mitler is all about doing whatever it takes to make more millions at the expense of the 99%. Why do you think Mitler is so behind Ryan's budget for the 1%?

hillzhavays says:
"Romney "outsourced call center jobs to India."

Typical Lib exaggeration and distortion of the facts. What he did was veto a measure that would have prevented the state from doing business with a state contractor that was locating state customer-service calls in India.

Oibs like to talk about foreign banks accounts and outsourcing jobs a lot, but not a lot of verifiable facts. Just more fluff from libs.

I read your amusing post, but if anything is exaggerated, it seems to be your response.

BTW: Do you mean "libs" in elected positions or libs who live on main street rather than wall street? I respect plenty of "libs" and "cons" in main street... but you may choose to discriminate as you wish and as blindly as you choose.

This Romney stands for everything that is wrong with the U.S. economy and what has happened to the middle class!
I hate Romney! He has been raping the middle class for his millions for years. The man has no scruples whatsoever. Whatever it takes to make another million regardless who he steps on along the way. Unless it's his rich buddies.
I've seen so many great paying jobs disappear over the last several years from the corporation I work for. The lion share of them went to India. It disgusts me!

And instead of outsourcing jobs, Obama is legalizing illegals and bringing in Japanese, Chinese and E Indians to take the good paying jobs. What about Americans and what we need?? I need a job that pays more than Obamas McDonalds' positions. I have a 4 year College education that I paid for myself, too. Doesn't that count for something Mr Socialist President??

Excuse me, corporations do that. Go blame them, along with politicians who want to eliminate regulations that would punish companies for breaking those laws, as it's not legal to use people here illegally... (or if it is, all that does is encourage more people to come here illegally and they're not being helped again...)
