Ron Paul to host pre-GOP convention event

T.J. Kirkpatrick
(CBS News) Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul, who has conceded that he will not win enough delegates to garner the Republican nomination but has not dropped out of the race, will hold his own event on August 26 in Tampa, the day before the Republican National Convention begins.

Paul's communications director Jesse Benton told Hotsheet that the Texas congressman's public event will "celebrate our delegates" and feature "Liberty minded Republican speakers."

Paul will attend the convention with an army of loyal delegates. Although Paul has stopped campaigning, he continues to rack up delegates in states around the country. Most recently, he won a majority of delegates in Iowa. He also won a majority of delegates in Nevada and Maine - all states he did not win during the caucuses or elections.

The Paul campaign is urging order and respect at the convention, instead of disrupting proceedings to ensure Paul receives sufficient recognition.

Benton said Paul's event will be the only pre-convention event he will attend. His supporters have organized a three-day Paul Festival complete with "Liberty bands" and speakers from August 24 - 26.

Also, during the three days before the convention in Tampa, the Freedom Festival 2010 will be held at a venue between Orlando and Tampa. Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson will speak at that event.

ron paul supports the same old failed trickle-down economic agenda. Not only is he dead wrong about the need for MORE deregulation he's dead wrong about Global Warming. On several occasions he called Global Warming a "hoax". Sorry ron but EVERY respected scientific institution that considered the issue disagrees with your baseless conclusion. He's not in touch with reality. This goes for mitt the Windsock Vulture Capitalist too!

Oh hog wash.
Paul does not think the federal government should be in the business of calling a shot, such as Global Warming, climate change, global cooling(in the 70's) and on and on. In the 70's they scared us about aerosol cans and hairspray. The 90's everything was cooling... Now every thing is warming...and on and on.. Fact is, there are st as many scientists that disagree with global warming and dispute. Paul simply states he has no position and neither would his administration. He never calls anything a "hoax" so your post has been DEBUNKED!
By the way, libtard. sorry, cant help it.
by the way libtard, a freddie and fannie regulator told obama "NO" to his mortgage bailout package for homeowners...
Once regulations are lifted, corporations will no longer need lobyists. Corporations only hire lobbyists because of the hard and impossible regulations they have to suffer with or move to china. we need these corporations. as long as they take nothing from government they have a good product and the consumer choses.
thats a free market.. It is not "trickle down GOP talking points" economics with Paul..
It is free market, consumer choice, let them go BANKRUPT no bailout, no printing money Paul seeks.
stop lying about his words and look him up.
you will like what you find. any red blooded american would.
even libtards...
paul is NO threat to libtards... Only gop and libtard establishment warfare/welfare queens

I guess Ron The Con got the message loud and clear, that he and his Band of rowdies, who want to be seen and heard, will not be allowed within a mile of the invitation only Republican Convention. Third Party without a name, masquerading as republican. What a mess, Willard does not have enough delegates, Santorum wont release his delegates to Etch A Sketch. Ron The Con is still running but not competing, go figure? This is a Train Wreck in the making. There is no Barry Goldwater, Ronald Ray-gun to reign these loose cannons, to attempt to forge a cohesive republican candidate. Everyone wants to be president. I look for Newt (Leroy) to come up with a Jason appearance if he can get bus fare to Tampa.

Tea party just making a statement. They will vote for Romney and they know it. It leaves a bitter taste in their mouths. Who knows, maybe some may even be brave enough to vote for President Obama.

Will never vote for either Romney or Obama. There is no difference between them. I will be writing in Ron Paul's name. I would rather have a clear conscience than "hold my nose" and vote. Without Paul on the ticket, it matters not which of the twins wins.

I do not think the speakers will be Republicans, but TEA party radical extremes. Sufficient recognition? 'Ol Ron Paul, has done it again! Having built his grassroots organization and filled it's ranks with confrontational Treacherous Egotistical Anarchist(TEA) dead set on gaining as much leverage at the grassroots to exact this fringe movements issues. This is the same Ron Paul and son who stated: "The revolution is working, we have infiltrated the Republican Party, and we will convert the Republican Party to defenders of liberty." It's at the local level where people are using the (R) instead of the (T) to run for office, and where the most control over money, infrastructure, repairs, Social Program administration have the greatest impact. Be especially careful of who is running as a Republican. They may be TEA party activists in drag. There will be a potload of lies and falsifications bown all over these blogs across the nations.

I can tell you with confidence that half of the delegates from New Mexico are Ron Paul delegates as well. What the media seems to ignore though is that in New Mexico as well as other states, many of those who have moved from center to support other candidates during the last election are moving back to the center. If Ron Paul can cause so much friction within both parties, then you can be sure that the libertarians are going to come to the forefront this year. The media should be there for that as they have been there in reporting uprisings in other countries.
