Obama congratulates Romney on GOP primary win

(CBS News) President Obama and Mitt Romney briefly set aside their differences on Wednesday as Obama congratulated Romney on officially winning the delegates necessary to become the president's Republican rival.

The two spoke by phone in a call initiated by Mr. Obama.

"President Obama said that he looked forward to an important and healthy debate about America's future, and wished Gov. Romney and his family well throughout the upcoming campaign," a statement from Obama's reelection campaign said.

Romney aides said the call was cordial, with Romney thanking the president and wishing him and his family well.

I actually think Romney may be more liberal than Obama.

----

Definitely, from a fiscal sense, at least. He just today said we should be arming the Syrians, even though many of his Repub buddies disagreed when he said it.

Anyone else have an opinion on who Romney will pick for VP?

Well IDK. Maybe the Huckster. He would have the religion to bring in the social conservatives and he is more conservative than Romney.

Might bring in some votes.

But one can really hope for Sarah Palin.

I can see Huck as a good choice to attract the Religious Right.

But you're right - Palin would bring out the REAL fun! Boy, do I miss her and her flailing!

Sorry, Lunatics - I was asking the posters who aren't little drooling puppy dogs like yourself waiting for a chance to bark.

So - anyone else have an opinion on whether or not Romney will pick Porter?

You're both acting like 12-year-olds. Neither of you has made a single statement that suggests otherwise.

Well, you aren't aware that Lunatic has a habit of impersonating people he cannot debate.

I'm taking him to task over that. If you don't like it, leave, or report it.

Obama is stupid to call Romney...I'll bet Karl Rove, the Koch brothers the billionaires who are giving millions to Romney to win the election are laughing like crazy. Has Romney ever given out ths information on his finances...how many billions he has, how many homes, cars, etc...this guy is going to buy America and all the American's who vote for him are selling out our country. Obama hasn't been the strong President he said he would be...he hasn't stopped this illegal war as he said he would and I am sick of hearing about Michelle and her comments about all the over weight kids in America...If I had a chef to prepare my food, I would be skinny too..but I am not over weight..but I still would like a chef to prepare my food. The Obama's have a million dollar house in Chicago so if he loses he will have a fancy home to return to but I think the Obama's will probably move to Hawaii...Where can we Americans who are sick to death of all the tearing apart, selling of and giving away of our country run to? We didn't expect all these national problems when were ready to retire...now it looks like at the age of 82 and 75 that we may have to look for work again..We don't mind paying taxes, our country needs the money but we do object to more than half the nation's people don't pay taxes...this includes millionaire, and billionaires who have tax attorney's to figure out the loop holes for them to pay little or not tax...I urge all American men to NOT sign up to go to Afghanastan to get blown to bits this is after all a war made up by the millionaires just so they can make more money off your blood and sweat and tears.

Good comment - it is sad that both sides seem to willfully wear blinders when it comes to whom they should be looking out for, cattie.

Again, back on topic, I see Porter from OH as the most-likely VP.

The fact that he's cozying up to the criminal government of Israel is more evidence, especially considering that Romney has said Jerusalem will be his first state visit if elected.

He's much more probable than Rubio - Rubio is a good orator, but would be considered as inexperienced as Obama or Palin.

Excellent post and worth repeating. Capitalism (American vulture, predatory capitalism as exemplified by Mitt Romney has failed miserably). The only thing that is wrong is that we have already had MASSIVE WEALTH REDISTRIBUTION to the Top 1%.

Let's all congratulate ourselves for allowing President Obama to save us from greedy capitalism. Socialism works ! Wealth redistribution now !! Obama in 2012 !!!

al-glob is remarkably naive, forgetting how much wealth that's generated by American workers goes to the corporations in the form of taxpayer-funded subsidy, never mind to corporations that offshore jobs as means of calling it "profit" in return.

In short, we already have socialism. Corporate welfare to prop up the corporations (and banks) at our expense. In which case, let's use the real term: "Plutocratic corporatism".

'Let's see what he has to say about THAT. And then compare the number of articles he's cited in the past with mine, of which here is a small reminder:
