Romney ad gives more "Day One" promises

(CBS News) The Romney campaign has released a new television commercial, his second of the general election.

In the ad, a narrator lays out three initiatives for Mitt Romney's first day in office as president. They are to announce deficit reductions, demand that China play by international trade rules and repeal job-killing regulations.

Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty has a cameo in the backdrop early in the ad. Pawlenty is national co-chair of Romney's campaign and speculated to be in consideration for vice president. The ad also features a shot of children in a classroom, notable since Romney has been focusing on education reform this week.

In Romney's first commercial, which was released last Friday, he listed three different plans for his first day in office: Start building the Keystone pipeline, work on tax cuts, and work toward repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act, President Obama's health care overhaul. Both ads were released in English and Spanish.

In a statement this morning, campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul wrote, "On day one of the Romney presidency, we will begin restoring the greatness of America."

No, further tax cuts to the tune of $900 Billion and more deregulation of corporations, is george wmd bush's policies on steroids!

Those same republican policies that gave us the bush/cheney Great Recession will be coupled with even greater spending cuts that will only slow economic growth even more, putting us back into recession or worse, and increasing unemployment again.

It will be a dark day for America if willard romney steals the 2012 election through endless negative ads and disenfranchisement of voters across America due to ALEC's wrath.

Day 1 agenda item 1 for Mitt, introduce legislation that will lower his personal tax bill by $750,000 even that he already pays a very low percentage in tax. This will create more jobs. (for Cayman Island money managers and Swiss Bankers.)

Day One for Mitler: start the war on Iran and start the gears turning to turn the Social Security Trust Fund over to my vulture friends on Wall Street. Write some legislation to get rid of all taxes on the rich and increase them on the poor.

Let's start thinking about repealing the civil right act and Lily Ledbetter equal pay for women act. Roll out the Marriage Amendment and throw all those poor, young and elderly off of the health care roll, they can buy their own or die, that's fine.

Oh and no more regulations on business, they can do whatever they want, illegal or not.

You know the Wall Street fix is in on this election. For a one term reject governor who lies through his teeth every time he opens his mouth to be even close proves it.

You know. I will listen to what he says...

But if he is just repackaging a W Bush presidency which has now had 11 years to show why it failed. Then I will NOT vote for him.

Ill write in Ron Paul. Fail... but kind of a vote for none of the above.

You are acting as if we have actual democratic elections in this country. This is so fixed by the big corporations and Wall Street.

When Obama came in, he had to junk almost all of his promises because no one outside of the Bush administration knew how badly off we were. He had to deal with that crisis. That is his excuse for not keeping the majority of his promises.

Romney is making all kinds of promises to win votes. Many of these are simply outside of the President's, whoever he might be, to deliver. The best way to judge his promises is to learn how he delivered on his promises in the past.

Seems like Obama focused on healthcare when we were in the middle of one of the worst recessions, depressions in history.

Healthcare in this country needs fixed but he should have focused on other things.

President Obama got the other half of TARP and the ARRA recovery package, he saved Chrysler and GM from going out of business and causing hundreds of thousands of job losses.

President Obama left it up to Congress to formulate health care reform. It is a large issue and was a decision for Congress, unfortunately they took way too long to do it.

We know the drill, more tax cuts for the rich 1% "job makers" and more cuts for the middle-class. Another GREAT RECESSION to follow.

Without spewing anger or name calling, would liberals have anything to say?
It's obvious you haven't thought out your statement, comparing an economic recovery with eliminating clean water & safe food.
Under obama we have the highest debt in history, the highest gas & utilities in history, are in the longest are recession in history, more people are unemployed than any time in history. Your statement, "Only the stupid & ignorant...", is more revealing than you intended.
